About Kites' Nest Cottage

Kites' Nest Cottage is an idyllic rural retreat for two in Cwmifor, just three miles from the small market town Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire. Tastefully decorated in neutral shades, and with stunning panoramic views from all the windows, it is the perfect self-catering holiday cottage for couples or single guests looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Enjoy lazy days sitting in the gardens, visit the wildlife pond and Shepherd’s Retreat Hut or explore the surrounding fields. If the gorgeous views inspire you to get your paintbrush out, the owners can even give you watercolour painting tutorials.

With fantastic walks from the front door you don't need to venture too far from Kites' Nest Cottage. The surrounding countryside is a haven for wildlife and it's hard not to be wowed by the beauty of the diverse landscape. From mountains, river valleys and lush fields, Carmarthenshire has it all. Keen hikers should lace up their boots and spend a day or two exploring the trails in the nearby Brecon Beacons. The miles and miles of bridlepaths and tracks also makes this National Park a popular spot for mountain biking and horse riding, whilst adventure seekers can have a go at rock-climbing, abseiling or caving. History lovers and romantics shouldn't miss the wild ruins of Carreg Cennen Castle. Sitting on a limestone crag 325 feet above the River Cennen, the castle dominates the skyline for miles. Take a walk through the vaulted passageway which is cut into the cliff and explore the natural cave sitting underneath.

After a day in the hills head back to the picturesque hilltop town of Llandeilo. Enjoy browsing the boutique shops, art galleries and mouthwatering eateries as you stroll along the streets lined with colourful houses set against a pretty rural backdrop. From here it is just a five minute drive to the National Trust's historic House and Nature Reserve at Dinefwr. Other local attractions include the National Botanic Garden of Wales, the Heart of Wales rural railway and the National Trust's Dolaucothi Gold Mines. Just a little further afield you will find the charming city of St. Davids and the gorgeous Gower coastline, including the seven mile beach at Pendine Sands. And the day doesn't end when the sun goes down. The Breacon Beacons is home to some of the highest quality dark skies in the UK, making it perfect for stargazers or holidaymakers looking for a perfect end to a perfect day.

The owners are members of the Retreat Association but consider themselves as offering a tranquil break to those of all faiths or none.
