Kites' Nest Cottage is an idyllic rural retreat for two in Cwmifor, just three miles from the small market town of Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire. Tastefully decorated in neutral shades, and with stunning panoramic views from all the windows, it is the perfect self-catering holiday cottage for couples or single guests looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Keen gardeners will appreciate sitting in the gardens and can visit the Shepherd’s Retreat Hut or explore the surrounding wildlife meadows. If the gorgeous views inspire you to get your paintbrush out, one of the owners is a professional artist and you can book a watercolour painting tutorial.
With accessible walks from the front door you don't need to venture too far from Kites' Nest Cottage. The surrounding countryside is a haven for wildlife. Carmarthenshire has much to offer - mountains, rolling hills and river valleys. Keen walkers can spend a day or two exploring the nearby Brecon Beacons – one of Wales’ acclaimed National Parks. History lovers and romantics shouldn't miss the wild ruins of Carreg Cennen Castle set above a limestone crag above the River Cennen. Along with the nearby castles of Dinefwr and Dryslwyn it dominates the skyline for miles.
Just three miles from Kites’ Nest is the picturesque hilltop town of Llandeilo with its boutique shops, art galleries, popular cafés and restaurants. The streets are lined with colourful houses set against a pretty rural backdrop. From here it is just a five minute drive to the National Trust's historic house, castle and park at Dinefwr. Other local attractions include the National Botanic Garden of Wales, the National Trust’s Dolaucothi Gold Mines and the Heart of Wales railway line which can be joined at Llandeilo station for a scenic countryside journey through mid Wales. Just a little further afield you will find the charming city of St. Davids and the Gower coastline. The Brecon Beacons is home to some of the highest quality dark skies in the UK, making it perfect for stargazers and amateur astronomers.
For a relaxing start to the day, guests can enjoy a pre-ordered wholefood continental breakfast in the owners’ house next door.
The owners are members of the Retreat Association but offer a tranquil break to those of all faiths or none.
