Perfect for couples, Usk Apartment is a superb choice for those who enjoy being outdoors and is ideally placed for enjoying all that the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains have to offer. Providing 4 Star self-catering, the apartment is one of six well-presented holiday retreats for adults (and infants), nicely tucked away in a peaceful rural setting - each self-contained and private, affording lovely views of Llangattock Mountain.
Neuadd Cottages sit on the outskirts of Llangattock village and has two friendly pubs within 10-minutes walking distance for a meal out (the Horseshoe Inn and The Vinetree). The attractive stylish town of Crickhowell is also easily walkable, offering more choice with nice pubs like The Bear and The Dragon Inn, as well as a good choice of independent shops for stocking up on local goodies.
When you stay at Neuadd Cottages, you have easy access to some of the best walking Wales has to offer. Step out of the front door and explore the Craig y Cilau National Nature Reserve which sits just behind the apartment. It will give you a flavour for the beauty that abounds with its ancient woodland teeming with wildlife, dotted with geological features and remnants of the area's industrial heritage. Take a stroll alongside the River Usk and the Monmouthshire to Brecon Canal or explore the canal tow-path by bike (it's a nice flat ride!). A enticing mown path across the meadow will take you onto the Cambrian Way and further afield to explore Table Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountain, Llangattock Mountain, and Pen-Allt-mawr. For those up for the challenge, Pen-y-Fan is also within easy driving distance, as are Corn du and Cribyn.
Walking isn't the only way to enjoy the national park. The escarpment above Llangattock is popular for caving, especially the Agen Allwedd system which spans for some 20 miles. If you prefer a saddle, there are opportunities for pony trekking and cycling with leafy lanes and off-road routes for the more adventurous mountain bikers.
When you fancy a lazy day, while away a few hours browsing the interesting shops in Crickhowell and enjoying a long lazy lunch in one of the pubs; or head to historic Abergavenny with its thrice weekly market (Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays), Brecon or Monmouth. The area is a history lovers paradise with castles and ruins to visit including the ruined walls of Abergavenny's Norman castle, the towers of White Castle, Tretower, Grosmont, Skenfrith, Chepstow and closer to home, the single tower that remains of Crickhowell.
Whatever the time of year, the owners of Neuadd Cottages offer a warm welcome. Visit on your own for a romantic break and weekend of outdoor pursuits; or book one of the other cottages and visit with friends or family for a relaxing and fun-filled holiday.
