About Trelawney Cottage

Trelawney Cottage couldn't be in a better location for enjoying the beauty of the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains. The single-storey stone barn conversion is in a peaceful, rural location with lovely views of Llangattock Mountain. It's just outside of Llangattock village, within a 10-minute walk of two friendly welcoming pubs - the Horseshoe Inn and the Vinetree (with other popular pubs like The Bear and The Dragon Inn in nearby Crickhowell). The holiday cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms, delivering 4-Star accommodation to couples or friends. Trelawney Cottage is perfect for anyone who loves being active outdoors but also suits holidaymakers who want to mix shopping, sightseeing, fantastic food, and culture into their stay.

You have access to some of the finest walking landscape in Wales from the door of Trelawney Cottage. Start in the Craig y Cilau National Nature Reserve, just behind the property. It's one of the owner's top choices to introduce people to the landscape. It includes a bit of everything - ancient woodland, unique geological features, protected wildlife, and a few remnants of the area's industrial heritage. The River Usk and the Monmouthshire to Brecon Canal are two more favourite places for a walk, the canal also being a good choice for a leisurely cycle with less-experienced riders as it's nice and flat. A mown path through a meadow takes you from the cottage to the Cambrian Way, while longer routes lead to Table Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountain, Llangattock Mountain, and Pen-Allt-mawr. You can also drive to the base of Pen-y-Fan - the highest peak in South Wales, Corn du and Cribyn.

Walking isn't the only way to enjoy the national park. The escarpment above Llangattock is popular for caving, especially the Agen Allwedd system which is just over 20 miles long. Arrange a guided pony trek through a local stable or bring your bike and challenge yourself on the climbing country lanes. Mountain biking is hugely popular. There is something for everyone, whether you like downhill, cross country, gravel bike riding or a bit of everything. The owners are keen mountain bikers and provide lots of information about local trails and secure bike storage.

Spend a relaxing few hours wandering around the shops in Crickhowell, Abergavenny, Monmouth, or Brecon. Abergavenny's historic market hall has recently undergone refurbishment and hosts a general market every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, as well as a popular flea market every Wednesday. If you love a castle, then you'll be spoiled for choice. Visit the single tower that remains of Crickhowell, Abergavenny's Norman castle's ruined walls, the dominating towers of White Castle, and others like Tretower, Grosmont, Skenfrith and Chepstow - a history lovers paradise!

You can stay at Trelawney Cottage in any season and have an unforgettably fabulous holiday. It is available all year round for weekly or fortnightly bookings. The owner has several other charming cottages onsite which welcome adults (and infants). Each is private and self-contained and can be booked together to accommodate extended families or friends. Please see the owner's website for details.
