The Dovecote is part of Priory Farm Estate and provides self-catering accommodation for holidaymakers and those who are relocating or away on business. Sitting around a courtyard that is a real sun trap, the cottages provide clean, well-equipped comfy holiday homes that offer a blend of modern living with a rustic twist.
All cottages have gas central heating and double-glazing so are ideal all year round and each has open plan living with dining table/chairs, comfy seating and a fully equipped kitchen offering an electric cooker, microwave and also a dishwasher. There is also a laundry room which guests have the shared use of with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The pretty village of Harrold has a village green in the centre and a country park which provides good opportunities for enjoyable walks and bird watching. The village has two good pubs, a butchers, and a Co-op shop with Post Office.
The attractive market town of Olney is just five miles from the cottages and offers a wider selection of independent shops, restaurants and take-aways. For those who enjoy golf, nearby Pavenham has a course. There is also horse riding and clay pigeon shooting locally, along with plenty of good walking and cycling routes. Leisure facilities such as swimming pools, cinemas, theatres etc are available in the nearby towns of Bedford, Northampton and Milton Keynes.
Oxford and Cambridge are within easy driving distance and for those happy to travel a little further, the Cotswolds, the East coast and London (40 minutes on the train from Bedford) all provide great days out.
The Dovecote is ideally placed with easy access to Northampton, Milton Keynes and Bedford for those on business, along with having good access to the M1, A1 and train stations. There is also a bus service to Bedford locally, but this is infrequent so a car allows you more flexibility during your stay.
