The Deckhouse is beautifully presented and sits in an idyllic position in Argyll on Scotland's stunning West Coast in the picturesque village of Craobh Haven. With stunning scenery all around, The Deckhouse affords exceptional views over the sea, marina and beyond to the Scottish Islands.
Located in between Lochgilphead and the attractive coastal town of Oban, The Deckhouse provides an ideal base for exploring the areas beautiful lochs and glens, soaking up its culture and history, and enjoying horse riding, golf, walking, sailing, fishing, cycling, wildlife or simply relaxing watching the beautiful sunsets.
The stunning Inner Hebridean Islands of Iona, Mull, Jura, Islay, Colonsay, Tiree and Barra, are all within easy reach from Oban by the ferry, as well as by boat from Craobh Haven Marina. Craobh Haven not only has a busy marina but it also has a village store for stocking up on provisions and a pub with restaurants serving very good food.
This beautiful area of Scotland has lots of historic sites including more than its fair share of castles. Kilmartin house is close to The Deckhouse with its museum of archaeology and ancient culture. Oban (the gateway to the Scottish Isles) is also within easy reach and eighteen miles away where you can catch a ferry and visit the surrounding islands such as Mull (make sure you visit the distillery and picture postcard Tobermory, the island's capital). The isles of Jura and Isla are also great day trips from Oban.
Crarae Garden is one of the many beautiful public gardens to be found in Argyll and only a five minute drive from The Deckhouse. There are also lots of lovely places to enjoy a meal out in the surrounding area including the local pub in the village and also the Loch Melfort Hotel where you can dine whilst watching the sun set over the water (just five minutes away and excellent food!). Arduaine Gardens sits next to the hotel and is well worth a visit.
There are so many interesting places to visit just a short drive from The Deckhouse. These include: Oban Marine; Seal Centre, Loch Awe, Inverary Castle; Inverary Jail and Argyll Wildlife Park to name just a few. There is good coast and loch fishing and an abundance of wildlife and birdlife to spot.
Other activities include: Mountain bike trails; horse riding; water sports and golf, all of which are in the local area, along with superb walking (many walks start directly front the front door including a walk to Adfern with its good pub!).
