Lodge Farm is home to The Hay Barn which sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms. It is a small family run livestock farm specialising in Highland cattle, ideally located in beautiful Teesdale countryside, just five miles from Barnard Castle in the Durham Dales.
Providing comfortable holiday accommodation, The Hay Barn is ideal for those who want to get away from the pressures of everyday life. Here you can relax in a beautiful countryside setting, rich in flora, fauna and wildlife (including stoats, deer, hares and plenty of birdlife).
The farm also offers The Bluebird caravan on a self-catering basis (please see the owners website), providing a very pleasant comfortable base for four guests with fantastic views.
Lodge Farm sits in a picturesque position between Teesdale and Swaledale and is an ideal base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales. Here you can enjoy lovely riverside walks on the farm where you will see the highland cattle graze and private fly fishing can be arranged by the owner's on the River Greta. The area offers superb walking opportunities with a vast network of paths and tracks to explore and for the more energetic long distance walker, the Pennine Way and Teesdale way are within a short car ride. Other outdoor activities that can be enjoyed locally include horse riding, mountain biking and shooting.
The delightful historic market town of Barnard Castle is just five miles away and has much to offer with its antique shops, traditional pubs, restaurants and historic castle. There is a farmers' market once a month in the cobbled market place and also a weekly market.
A little further afield, you have the North York Moors, the Lake District and the North Yorkshire coastline, along with the historic cities of York, Carlisle and Newcastle, all within driving distance and providing plenty of attractions.

The Hay Barn affords lovely views and adjoins the farm house.
Accommodation comprises:
- Three bedrooms, all with en-suite shower rooms. There is one twin bedded room upstairs; one bedroom with zip and link beds upstairs which can be made up as a king or twin and a ground floor double bedroom which may be suitable for people with limited mobility (please discuss your requirements with the owner before booking to ensure the cottage meets your personal needs both inside and out).
- Spacious open-plan living area with comfortable seating, log burner, Freesat television, Hi-Fi (with CD player and iPod dock) and DVD player.
- Well equipped kitchen with cooker, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, fridge and table with chairs for dining.
- Outside there is a 'plant room' adjoining the cottage with freezer and drying facilities.
Outside: There is a spacious patio that runs the width of the property which has garden table and chairs.
Additional information: Under floor heating throughout, heated by ground-source heat pump and a log burning stove in the living area which can complement the water heating. Short breaks are often available - please enquire with the owner. Dogs are accepted by prior arrangement.
