Rose Cottage is a charming double fronted Dales stone cottage that lives up to its name with a garden full of delightful roses in the summer, providing the ideal place to pass the time of day and watch the world go by.
The cottage is a lovely end of terrace cottage on the edge of the popular village of Askrigg within the Yorkshire Dales, and benefits from being only a few minutes walk from the centre of the village with its pubs, teashops, restaurants, good old fashioned village shop and florist.
Heaving with character, Rose Cottage has a lovely open fire, stone shelves, deepset windows and beamed ceilings, with an old barn behind it which is ideal for storing bikes and outdoor gear.
There are a great selection of lovely walks from the door and the added benefit of your own car parking space, which is rare in the village. Whatever the time of year, there is plenty to do and enjoy in the village and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Askrigg nestles beneath the stunning fells of Ellerkin and Askrigg Common towards the top of Wensleydale. Its two and three storey stone cottages and houses line the main street, with the 15th century parish church in the centre of the village in the old cobbled market place, which still has its market cross and iron bull ring set into the cobbles.
Visitors may recognise Cringley House as ‘Skeldale House’ from the BBC television series ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ with the Kings Arms being the ‘Drovers Arms’ from the same series. There is a good village shop where you can buy all your basic groceries and the village also has a delicatessen where local produce can be purchased, a newsagents and three pubs which serve food.
