This is a truly delightful holiday cottage with beamed ceilings, flag floors and an original period range with open fire all adding to its charm and character. It is located in a small square in the popular village of Askrigg, within the Yorkshire Dales and only a minutes walk from the centre of the village with its shops, tea shops, pubs and restaurant.
Whilst located in the heart of the town, it benefits from having a wonderful walled back garden with a garden door in the wall through to the meadows and footpaths immediately behind the cottage.
Croft House offers all of the comforts and conveniences of home with lovely fabrics and antique furniture chosen with style and flair to complement the impressive architecture of this Grade ll listed building. This is further enhanced by a fascinating collection of antiques throughout the house.
Askrigg nestles beneath the stunning fells of Ellerkin and Askrigg Common towards the top of Wensleydale. Its two and three storey stone cottages and houses line the main street, with the 15th century parish church in the centre of the village in the old cobbled market place, which still has its market cross and iron bull ring set into the cobbles.
Visitors may recognise Cringley House as ‘Skeldale House’ from the BBC television series ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ with the Kings Arms being the ‘Drovers Arms’ from the same series. There is a good village shop where you can buy all your basic groceries and the village also has a delicatessen where local produce can be purchased, a newsagents and three pubs which serve food.
