Eller Haw Cottage nestles in the picturesque tiny hamlet of Cotterdale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is a delightful holiday cottage, dating back to the 18th Century, with lots of character and charm and many original features including beautiful exposed beams and thick stone walls.
Outside Eller Haw Cottage is a lovely patio area and natural cottage garden, enhanced with the clear waters of Cotterdale Beck, babbling past the garden gate, creating a peaceful and tranquil retreat. It is a haven for wildlife including many species of birds and red squirrels and the rolling green meadows and upland pastures provide plenty of good walking opportunities across the hills and fells.
Cotterdale is a beautiful, peaceful tiny hamlet containing just twelve cottages. With no through traffic, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this is a perfect place to relax and unwind amongst beautiful countryside. Surrounding Cotterdale are 'patch work' green meadows and upland pastures divided by stone walls between which cattle and sheep peacefully graze. Here you can escape the shops, mobile phones and even street lights with just red squirrels, cows, sheep, pheasants and the ten permanent residents as companions.
The market town of Hawes is just a few minute's drive away providing everyday shopping, pubs, tea rooms, restaurants and take away's. Many of the finest attractions in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District are within just a short drive of the cottage making this an ideal base from which to explore the area.
Some of the finest attractions are natural landscape features such as: the huge amphitheatre of Malham Cove; the yawning chasm of Gaping Gill near Ingleton; the sculptured stones known as Brimham Rocks and some of the most amazing waterfalls you will find including Cotter Force (which the Cotter Beck at the bottom of the cottage's garden runs into), Hardraw Force and Aysgarth Falls to name but a few.
You can take a walk from Eller Haw Cottage to Cotter Force Waterfalls where you will see several bird species including grey wagtails, dippers, kingfishers and redstarts. Buzzards may also be seen flying overhead.
Surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Eller Haw Cottage is an ideal place to use as a relaxing retreat, for a walking holiday or from which to explore both the Dales and the Lake District.

Mr T Whittaker - March 2011
We had a very enjoyable holiday, the cottage was very clean and comfortable and we will certainly return hopefully when the sun shines, however we enjoyed playing some of the games supplied for those rainy days. The weather was too bad to go walking far, we enjoyed a short walk and cooked some lovely meals with everything on hand in the cottage.
Mr & Mrs Shaw - February 2011
Beautiful, idyllic location. It's the most peaceful and quiet New Year we have had for a long time, which is the main reason for coming at this time of year. Our Greyhound enjoyed herself too.
Mr & Mrs Johnson - December 2010
The location and setting of the cottage is very beautiful - the beck running alongside we loved, plus the varied wildlife and the scenery of the whole dale.
The cottage itself is superb - cosy, well-equipped and spotlessly clean. The beds were the most comfortably we've ever slept in while away on holiday. I really appreciated you phoning to check everything was okay..
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend your cottages to friends and family, and will hopefully be back ourselves in the future.
Mr Beaumont - November 2010
