Bower Bank EcoBarn is situated amidst pure natural beauty within the sleepy hamlet of Gawthrop, just one mile from Dentdale. The barn has been converted into a stunning holiday home and can accommodate ten guests (plus an additional two if the separate ensuite twin bedded annex is also hired).
When you visit Dentdale you will find yourself emerged in stunning scenery, natural beauty, deep heritage and the culture of a Dales community that has over many years attracted painters, poets and musicians. Dentdale provides the perfect place to escape the pressures of everyday life but is also ideally situated within the Yorkshire Dales, on the edge of Cumbria, allowing easy access for exploring not only the Dales, but also Cumbria and its many attractions including the Lake District (approximately fifteen miles away).
Here you can relax and unwind amongst breath taking scenery, spend your days strolling through lush riverside pastures and beautiful meadows, or exploring the towns and hills in the nearby Dales and Lakes - every day escaping the crowds to return back to your own little corner of peace and tranquillity.
There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in the area. Walking in Dentdale provides the opportunity to explore the local area and see the best of the beautiful countryside, which is rich in wildlife, flora and fauna. There are numerous footpaths to explore where you can follow the Heritage Trail through the beautiful wooded gully of Flintergill or enjoy a more leisurely stroll along the River Dee. Dentdale is also a good base for those who enjoy cycling with both on and off-road routes to cater for all energy levels. The Pennine and Yorkshire Dales Cycleways both pass through Dentdale and the quiet country lanes are ideal for a more relaxing ride.
The Settle-Carlisle Railway also passes through Dentdale and is one of the most wonderful railway journeys in the world, stopping at Dent Station which is England's highest mainline station. You can take a train to Carlisle or Leeds for a great day out and and sit back and enjoy the spectacular views of the Yorkshire Dales and Pennines on your way.
Dent Village has a Heritage Centre which reveals the working lives of the dale's people since 16th Century and the Meditation Centre provides an ideal place for quiet contemplation. Three pubs and two cafes also provide places to enjoy a meal or refreshment.
With wonderful walking, spectacular scenery and so many places within easy each both within the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria, you are sure to want to return time and time again to this peaceful paradise.

Bower Bank EcoBarn has been converted into a fantastic holiday home which is beautifully presented with internal stone features and beamed ceilings. It is eco-friendly with a ground source heat pump which provides the hot water and heating. Rainwater is diverted into underground tanks and used for flushing the toilets in all four of EcoBarn's toilets and sheep's wool has been used to insulate the building.
Accommodation comprises:
Open plan lounge and dining area, with high beamed ceilings, large comfortable sofas, wood burning stove, an antique dining table with up to ten place settings, flat screen television and DVD player.
Kitchen area with units which have been handmade from recycled church pews built around a Belfast sink. There is a double oven cooker, fridge/freezer and toaster. A service laundry wash is available for the nominal charge of £6 per load including drying.
Down six stone steps from the lounge to two
bedrooms, one double room and a second bedroom with a pair of oversize
bunks. Also at this level is a shower, WC with hand basin, along with an
additional separate WC and wash hand basin.
Seven stone steps lead up from the lounge to the second bedroom which has three pairs of adult sized bunk beds and again an en-suite shower room with WC and wash hand basin, along with an additional separate WC and basin.
There is an additional en-suite twin bedded annex (separate cost option of £795 per week if annex is also rented) that adjoins the farmhouse next door to the EcoBarn.
Outside: There is a terrace to the front of the building, to the rear a paved area with barbeque and your very own woodland garden where there is an abundance of wildlife including kestrels, rabbits and even red deer if you rise early enough!
Additional information: Bed linen, heat and lighting are included. Towel hire is £3 per person per week. Private parking for up to three cars. Pets are welcome at £30 per pet per week but must be kept on lead when outside the EcoBarn.
Prices: 3 night weekend breaks available - £595.00. Annex available at no additional cost when six persons or less are using cottage and it is £120.00 supplement for groups of seven to fourteen guests.
