1 Middlegate provides the perfect holiday retreat in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is ideal for anyone who enjoys walking and is located in the delightful, peaceful hamlet of Burtersett on the south side of Wensleydale. It offers magnificent views up and down the dale and is situated just a gentle one mile stroll from the bustling market town of Hawes.
Burtersett is ideally situated for exploring all aspects of the Yorkshire Dales. Whether you enjoy walking, cycling, climbing or driving you will enjoy this lovely location. The geographical location and natural history combine wonderfully to provide an excellent array of activities.
Situated in the Northern Dales, Hawes is one of England's highest market towns. It is a picturesque town, offering a wide range of shops, tea rooms, craft galleries, pubs and restaurants. It also has a weekly market every Tuesday where you can purchase local produce and plays host to a range of events, including the Hawes Gala in June. The town is famous for being the home of Wensleydale cheese at the Hawes creamery, and another popular tourist attraction is the Dales Countryside Museum, located at the old Hawes railway station.
For those who love walking, Hawes is a great holiday destination, as it lies within the Yorkshire Dales National Park with the 250 mile Pennine Way passing through it. For those who prefer a more gentle walk, there are plenty around locally to enjoy.
There are many nearby attractions and places of interest including Aysgarth Falls, a triple flight of waterfalls from the River Ure which stretches down over almost one mile to mid Wensleydale. These spectacular falls were visited by the likes of Turner, Ruskin and Wordsworth, and have also featured on the television program 'Seven Natural Wonders' as a wonder of the North. For those who want to explore the area and travel a little further afield, the Lake District is less than one hour away by car.

1 Middlegate is a renovated 19th Century stone miner’s cottage which reflects the history of the hamlet. It has full oil fired central heating and offers cosy holiday accommodation and the following facilities:
Well equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, washer drier and ample cooking utensils including a picnic set, and lanterns for evening walks. A folding table is also available.
Separate lounge with dining table, “26” LCD TV, DVD and Xbox 360 and two controllers.
Downstairs shower room with sink and WC.
Two upstairs bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with twin beds (the stairs to the bedrooms are fairly steep as they are part of the original cottage).

Additional information: Price includes electricity, central heating, an initial supply of kindling and logs for the wood burner, linen and towels. One well behaved pet is welcome. This cottage is non smoking. Short Breaks are available.
