Westview House sleeps seven guests in three bedrooms and is less than a two minute walk from the historic market place of Devizes. This Georgian house has been totally renovated and has wooden floors, a new McCarron kitchen, new shower room, bathroom and three comfortable bedrooms. The sitting room has comfortable upholstered furniture.
Ideally located, West View house provides a perfect base from which to explore the whole area. Devizes is a thriving market town with possibly the finest market square in the West Country. This delightful town is home to the Wadworth Brewery and offers a good selection of pubs, restaurants and interesting shops, along with festivals, carnivals and a host of events throughout the year. The Kennet and Avon canal runs through the centre of Devizes and boasts the largest row of locks anywhere in the world.
Why Devizes? Devizes is full of interesting shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and antique shops. It sits in the heart of Wiltshire with numerous attractions on the doorstep including: Salisbury, Marlborough, Stone Henge, Avebury, Lacock, Silbury Hill, Bath, the West Kennet Long Barrow and Salisbury Plain. The Cotswolds including Cirencester, Bourton, Street, etc are within driving distance as is South Wales and the coast.
Wiltshire is the county that many people drive through as they travel to Devon or Cornwall, yet it has so much history and beautiful countryside on its own doorstep. From Devizes you can enjoy romantic walks along the Ridgeway or Wansdyke. The downs are perfect for mountain biking and the Salisbury Plain provides walking, cycling and bird watching.
It is not surprising that the BBC and film producers return to Lacock and Castle Combe in Wiltshire to film period dramas (Pride and Prejudice on the BBC and Harry Potter). The Roman City of Bath has many unique shops and is steeped in history with the Roman Baths, Abbey, Royal Crescent and river. Hungerford is twenty five miles away and is full of antique shops, restaurants and boutique shops.
Savernake Forest on the edge of Marlborough is fabulous for walking, cycling or just relaxing. Stroll down the country lanes in the Pewsey Vale; walk on top of the downs along the Wansdyke or Ridgeway; or visit in June or July to see the world famous ‘crop circles’. Marlborough hosts the international Jazz Festival in July every year.
Salisbury has the most beautiful Cathedral and shopping centre. A little further south is the New Forest and beyond the coast at Bournmouth with the famous Sand Banks peninsular and beach - all close enough for day trip. Further afield you have Oxford (sixty five miles) and Bristol (forty miles).
