Yew Tree Cottage is perfect for a cosy romantic weekend, a family holiday, somewhere to simply relax and unwind or to use as a base for exploring the area.
The cottage has been lovingly designed with you in mind to ensure your holiday is relaxing and memorable and offers loverly furnishings, sumptuous beds, goose down duvets (or synthetics for the sneezers!), comfortable sofas, wonderful views over woods, and a lovely open fire to curl up in front of on those more chilly nights - making Yew Tree Cottage perfect at any time of the year.
This lovely Grade II listed 18th century cottage offers clean, uncluttered, yet homely accommodation with a peaceful atmosphere. It perfectly combines lovely original features including charming beams and original oak paneled doors, with all the essential mod cons you would expect.
Situated in the picturesque village of Erlestoke, Yew Tree Cottage is perfect for walking (with woods across road), cycling (both on and off road), golf (with a championship length course in the village) and leisurely pub lunches (a good choice in the area, including gastro pubs). For those who want to park the car and stay locally, the golf course is within walking distance, as is an Elizabethan pub serving real ale and good food. The lake and woods are across the road, where at the right time of the year, you can enjoy the splendour of the snowdrops and bluebells, and the open roads provide plenty of opportunities for enjoyable cycle rides.
This location makes a great base for exploring the many delights that this area has to offer. These include: the Roman town of Bath (steeped in history and surrounded by beautiful countryside); Stonehenge (recently voted Britain's Best Historic Site); Salisbury (with its spectacular cathedral with gothic style architecture); Longleat (with its stately home and theme/safari park); Bradford upon Avon (an unspoilt market town beautifully positioned on the River Avon); Lacock (with its medieval cloistered abbey converted into a fine country house, newly-restored botanic gardens and fascinating museum dedicated to the 'Father of Modern Photography') and many more all near by.
The lovely historic market town of Devizes is just ten minutes from the cottage, where you will find impressive architecture around its central square which contains ample parking, restaurants, cafes, a weekly market (Thursdays) and tourist information. Small, specialist shops can also be found tucked away in courtyards and alleyways and this 11th century town not only provides historic charm but also a good selection of amenities including a large fitness centre with swimming pool and children's park. To add to the charm of this town, you will also see the traditional shire horses pulling the kegs of ale through the town as it is home to the famous Wadsworth brewery – well worth a visit!

We had a lovely time - it was a pleasure to stay in your beautiful home. I hope you found the letter our daughter wrote you? Thanks for everything. Lisa, England.
Thank you so so much for the use of your beautiful cottage. We have had an absolutely brilliant time. It is a gorgeous place and the location is superb. Adam&Lauren, Torquay, England.
All was positive about the cottage - it was the extras that really mattered like the nice knives, crockery, pans, good quality docking station etc. Also the children stuff means you don't have to pack so much. We normally look forward to coming home by the end of a holiday but we really didn't want to - Matilda included! We have recommended you to my father in law and we may even return ourselves. It was especially nice that the cottage felt like a home and not a rental. Thanks again, Rachel
Hi Sara, I just wanted to let you know how much we liked your cottage and enjoyed our few days there. The location is just perfect and all the little extras in the cottage made us feel really at home. Both the children loved it which isn't always easy with such a big age gap (8yrs and 1 yr.). Thank you very much and we may well be asking to stay in your cottage again. Yours, Lucinda
Sara, Thanks for helping us have a great week by letting us use your house. We had a lovely holiday. The cottage is so cosy and welcoming, and had everything we needed. We like your taste in soft furnishings! We found so much to explore in the area, and did go out to walk from the house with Iona in the backpack. We will more than happily recommend Yew Tree cottage as a wonderful place to stay. All the best for the rest of the season. Lesley
Dear Sara. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your cottage, truly perfect. Thank you, Fiona.
