Situated in the Avon valley, close to the centre of the thriving Wiltshire village of Downton, Alison Cottage is a former farm building which has been comfortably converted into holiday accommodation which is ideally placed for a holiday full of variety.

Just a couple of miles up the road is the beautiful New Forest National Park which offers numerous attractions, a multitude of wildlife, pretty little villages and plenty of opportunity to explore the forest and heathland by foot, bike or horse back. Across the valley is a landscape of downland, farms and villages with an extensive network of footpaths through the chalk hills and along the ancient droves. Walkers will have hours of pleasure with the Avon Valley long distance footpath running past the front door or alternatively exploring the many tracks and paths of the forest!

This is an ideal location for anyone who wants to explore the attractions and places of interest that both Hampshire and Wiltshire have to offer. The medieval cathedral city of Salisbury is just eight kilometers to the north and Stonehenge is approximately twenty five. Alternatively visit the spectacular coastline which is within easy reach.

Downton itself is a very pretty village which straddles the River Avon and is surrounded by water meadows. The village is well known for its award winning brewery, fishing and as a centre for exploring the River Avon and the New Forest. It offers a good range of amenities including the Post Office, newsagent, pharmacy, fish and chip shop and two pubs which are within a five minutes’ walk from Alison cottage and the supermarket, bakery and two more pubs are just a little further.
