Afan Valley House provides spacious holiday accommodation for twelve to fourteen guests in four bedrooms with bunk beds. Located in the village of Cymmer in the Afan Forest, one of the most beautiful valleys in South Wales, Afan Valley House provides easy access, via the low level Rhielffordd Cycle Trail, to the Afan trails that start at Glyncorrwg and Afan Argoed (just over a mile away).
This spacious holiday home is ideal for large parties with three toilets, three showers and dining places for twelve. It has been converted with mountain bikers and walkers in mind, having a large utility room outside with drying facilities (and washing machine and tumble dryer) and bike storage for up to twelve bikes.
Cymmer has a village shop, excellent swimming pool, butcher, takeaway and a good pub serving food - all within a couple of minutes walk.
There is plenty to see and do in the area particularly for those that enjoy the great outdoors with the Afan Argoed Visitor Centre and the Glyncorrwg Mountain Biking Centre just a few miles away.
The Afan Forest is currently the fastest growing Mountain Biking area in the country with its two dedicated mountain biking centres within the local area. Blaengwynfi is on the low level trail leading to the Glyncorrwg and Afan Argoed Mountain Biking Centres. The trails have been carved out of hillsides and the valley has been transformed into single track heaven.
Afan Forest Park is home to five world class trails: ‘Y Wal’, the ‘Penhydd’, ‘White’s Level’, ‘Skyline’ and 'W2' and is the only UK trail destination so far to feature in the ‘What Mountain Bike Magazine’ as one of the ten best places to ride “before you die”.
There is plenty to see and do in the area. Margam Country Park is nearby with one thousand acres of glorious parkland offering history, wildlife, coarse fishing and pure natural beauty. Beautiful sandy beaches at Porthcawl are just a twenty minute drive away and the Aberdulais Falls Museum which is set in a steep gorge is an interesting place to visit, demonstrating the power of water and its impact on industry.
There is sailing and yacht hire at Oxwich Bay, The Gower and Swansea Marina; horse riding at Cimla riding centre and scuba diving around the Gower.
If you enjoy the Great Outdoors and are looking for an active holiday, this is the perfect place with everything on your doorstep.
