This amazing conversion of a 16th century timber framed thatched barn is spacious, full of light and furnished with a pleasant mix of classic and contemporary style. The ground floor, under-floor heated, open plan living area has a large kitchen, sitting area with cosy fire and dining area with extra tables to seat up to 27 people. Also on the ground floor are the TV room, games room with pool table, a utility room and separate WC. On the first floor, up the beautifully made oak staircase, are bedroom 1 with its en-suite shower, WC and basin and bedroom 2, both with south facing windows looking out over the green roof to The Farmhouse and orchard beyond. The bathroom for bedroom 1 & 4 with bath, shower cubicle, WC and basin is also found on the first floor along with the stairs that take you up to bedroom 4 with its wonderful views out over the apple orchard. Up another set of stairs from the first floor and across the bridge, you get to bedroom 3 with its en-suite shower, WC and basin and stunning views out over the fields through its east facing windows.
Grove Farm is home to Alfred's Barn, The Milking Parlour (sleeping four guests), The Farmhouse (sleeping a further thirteen guests) and The Orchard Wagon (a shepherd's hut sleeping 2 guests). Located in a beautiful tranquil rural setting, Grove Farm is within just ten minutes drive of the sought after Heritage coast and nearby to the attractions of Southwold, Walberswick, Aldeburgh, and Minsmere wildlife sanctuary.
Alfred's Barn has been restored to an exceptionally high standard by its owner who has paid much attention to provide a charming blend of character features with a contemporary feel. You can book Alfred's Barn for a week or a short break.
Grove Farm is situated three and a half miles from the lovely Suffolk market town of Halesworth which offers a good selection of shops, places to eat and a large Co-Op supermarket. The village of Bramfield is only one mile away and also has its own locally renowned butcher with a deli counter and groceries. Bramfield has the award winning Queens Head Pub and Restaurant, serving very good food using the best of local produce.
Local attractions:
Southwold has a sand and pebble beach with its famous colourful beach huts and newly rebuilt pier with traditional old-fashioned games. It is a lovely old town with excellent shops and restaurants where you can enjoy a stroll along the sea front or, for those seeking excitement, take a trip on the exhilarating coastal voyager to see the seals at Scroby Sands or the wildlife along the Blyth Estuary. Alternatively, take the scenic walk from Southwold up the Blyth River across the bridge - or by the little ferry - across to the picturesque village of Walberswick.
Walberswick - a short walk across fields and sand dunes to a lovely sandy beach where children can have hours of fun catching crabs on the bridge by the car park or playing on the beach.
Dunwich offers a pebble beach and is less busy than the others. A beach side fish and chip shop opens during the summer and closes at 5.00pm.
