Primrose Cottage - Self catering holiday cottage, Kersey, Suffolk, England - Sleeps 2
Primrose Cottage provides a romantic retreat for couples in the heart of the Suffolk hamlet of Kersey. A fantastic place to stay if you want to enjoy lovely walks straight from the front door, beautiful countryside, a wonderful pub in walking distance and pretty historic villages dotted along the river valleys.
The picturesque village of Kersey is located close to the Stour Valley which has now become known as Constable Country. The village dates back to medieval times and boasts a beautiful 14th Century church, attractive Elizabethan buildings, the ford (the 'splash' which is a tributary of the River Brett) and The Bell Inn with its good ale, log fire and uncomplicated food.
This delightful part of South Suffolk has the highest number of timber framed medieval buildings in the county. In the Middle Ages, the area was the heart of the English wool industry and today the wealth it generated still shines through providing magnificent buildings to marvel at.
Ordnance survey and local maps are provided in the cottage showing footpaths to local towns and villages such as Chelsworth and Hadleigh. The quiet country lanes are ideal for cyclists and there are plenty of excellent pubs and restaurants in the area for enjoying a long lunch. There is beautiful open countryside to explore and plenty of attractions and places to visit within easy reach of Primrose Cottage. These include: Lavenham - the best preserved medieval village in the country; Long Melford - famous for its antiques and Tudor house (Melford Hall); Bury St. Edmunds - the capital of West Suffolk and Kentwell Hall - a wonderfully restored moated Tudor Mansion near to Long Melford.
For those happy to travel a little further afield, the beautiful Suffolk coast is within an hours drive and offers great diversity with its wetlands, charming seaside towns and historic riverside villages, popular for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.

With our first visit to Kersey in 20111 being so memorable for the quaintness of the village, community spirit and country freedom, we have enjoyed another week at Primrose Cottage.
Thank you Colin and Margaret for providing a very comfortable and well appointed cottage and warm hospitality.

Although a short stay, we’ve felt thoroughly at home in this delightful cottage. The welcome basket is the best we’ve ever had and gratefully received. It has also been handy having the local pub so near that we’ve not had to cook. Thank you for helping to make it a holiday to remember.

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our (all too short!) stay in this truly stunning cottage. Tahnks to Margaret and Colin for their attention to detail it makes a significant difference. The only negative I can think of is that I’m now going to need to buy Helen a new bath and fireplace!

It has been a privilege to stay in this beautiful cottage so imaginatively renovated and furnished. Also so well kept and furnished – the log burning stove at its heart. We liked Kersey village with lovely walks and stayed local to eat at ‘The Bell’. Thank you so much for the hamper and everything else.

What is left for us to say? All previous comments echo ours! But...will say one word: SNOW! But it did not spoil our break – in fact it enhanced it with the village taking on a wondrous white coating....a truly wonderful stay in this perfect cottage.

Thank you Colin and Margaret for a truly wonderful stay; we have been so relaxed – just what we both needed! – and have enjoyed every moment in your beautiful cottage. We will definitely be back! You made us feel so welcome when we arrived showing us round and giving local tips. Fantastic Welcome Basket, we’ve never tasted bacon like it and next time would definitely buy local! Thank you again!

Always look forward to the ‘Welcome Basket’, I find it interesting viewing the contents & eating them! We prefer our bathroom scales!! Much enjoyed visiting local villages -= we have found that winter holidays can be cold but not here – perfect with real log fire and electric heating. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay and the trouble you have taken make our visit home from home

It took only 3 months before being drawn back to this beautiful cottage. Would recommend everything! I do not think that it’s possible to have a day here and have a bad experience! Thank you once again Colin and Margaret for the warm welcome.
