Smugglers Cove at Frongoch Boatyard is a fantastic renovation of a lovely period property that is located in an area of Special Scientific Interest in the Snowdonia National Park. An exciting holiday retreat on the Welsh coast, Smugglers Cove accommodates fourteen guests (plus two or four by arrangement) in two adjacent buildings. The buildings offer four double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms and one double bunk bedroom, along with two lounge/dining rooms, two kitchens, one bathroom and three shower rooms. Smugglers Cove comprises a recently renovated Old Chapel and Cottage (Chapel House) and adjacent cottage (Quarry Cottage), which are offered and equipped as a single holiday let, ideal for friends, families or groups who want to holiday together.
The property is an attractive stone and slate limewashed building that has a high level of insulation, full gas fired central heating and a wood burning stove in both Chapel House and Quarry Cottage, making it an ideal retreat at any time of the year.
Smugglers Cove at Frongoch Boatyard sits in the Snowdonia National Park, just off the foreshore/beach of the Dyfi estuary. It is approximately three miles up the estuary from Aberdyfi (a popular holiday town) and five miles from Machynlleth (an attractive country market town) which both offer restaurants, pubs and hotels. The Boatyard has the same owners as the holiday home and has licensed moorings on the estuary and exclusive access to the estuary foreshore/beach, private slipway, hardstanding and launch facilities for yachts, canoes and boats. Guests at Smugglers Cove have access to the foreshore/beach and all water based facilities.
The area is popular with cyclists and walkers with plenty of tracks and trails to explore. A leisure club with swimming pool, gym and sauna can be found two miles away and the well known Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) is just a fifteen minute drive.
Smugglers Cove affords its own discreet, self contained area of the site which is completely hidden from the working area of the boatyard. It has its own hidden outdoor recreation area with access via an exclusive short tunnel to the boatyard and in turn the Dyfi beach, moorings and foreshore through a second tunnel. Guests have exclusive parking on the Boatyard directly alongside the short tunnel to the Smugglers Cove buildings.

Chapel House accommodates ten guests and is the spacious main building that has three double bedrooms (one with four poster bed), one twin bedroom, and one bunk bedroom (three bedrooms are on the ground floor). The Dining area can accommodate sixteen around one table and the lounge has comfortable seating for sixteen. The kitchen has a large five ring Gas hotplate and oven and outside there is a large recreation area and patio with tables, seats and barbeque.
Quarry Cottage sleeps four and is separate but adjacent to Chapel House. It is a two storey holiday cottage with a twin and double bedroom (one is on the ground floor with direct exterior access and interior access). The cottage has its own lounge with comfortable seating for four, dining area with seating for four and smaller kitchen with Gas hob and oven. There is a large shower room/toilet on the ground floor and a secluded Mediterranean style courtyard at the rear of the cottage with seating and barbeque areas.
Facilities: Both properties are equipped with television (with Free to Air), Fridge (American style in Chapel House) and video player/DVD player/CD player/radio. There is a dishwasher in the Chapel kitchen. Mobile phone reception usually works on Orange Networks and O2. There is an additional central chest freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer for all guests to use, located in the facilities building in front of Chapel House.
Additional information: All bed linen is provided with beds made up ready for arrival. Towels are not provided so please bring your own. Weekly rentals start on a Saturday and short three night weekend breaks start on a Friday and four night midweek breaks on a Monday.
