Gwytheryn - Self catering holiday cottage in Dyffryn, Ardudwy, Gwynedd, Snowdonia, Wales - Sleeps 8
Gwytheryn dating back to the 15th century is one of the oldest properties in the area. Peacefully situated a mile from the golden sands and the rambling hills. Sleeping up to eight people, Gwytheryn has been awarded the Visit Wales highest-grade of 5 stars and is considered wheelchair friendly.
There are plenty of things to see and do in this lovely area with the following all being available within five miles: Harlech Castle, steam train, craft centre, slate mine, Harlech Royal St. David's golf course and pony trekking. The accommodation is also ideal for those who enjoy fishing, sailing and visiting the sandy " blue flag" beaches of the Cambrian coastline, along with those looking for a walking holiday in the Welsh mountains.
Snowdonia is a contrast of wooded valleys, rugged mountains, rushing streams, peaceful lakes, glorious beaches and boat-dotted harbours. Five miles south of Ystumgwern Hall Farm lies the seaside resort of Barmouth on the spectacular Mawddach Estuary.
You will find the most glorious ten mile expanse of sandy beaches from Harlech to Barmouth. Visit quaint villages such as Llanbedr, the gateway to Shell Island and Llandanwg with its Celtic church in the sand dunes. Along the sandy shores is the historic town of Harlech with the famous Royal St. David's golf course and its impressive castle, along with and an excellent theatre.
Walkers and cyclists will be delighted with the new routes to be found in the nearby area where you can explore the countryside with a wonderful backdrop of the Rhinog mountain range. There are several peaks to be conquered throughout Snowdonia, with varying degrees of difficulty providing something for all levels of fitness and experience. Alternatively take a ride on the Snowdon Mountain Railway and enjoy the magnificent peaks in a leisurely fashion.

Gwytheryn is a traditional 14th century farmhouse, once the home of the Lords of Gwytheryn. It is believed to be one of the oldest houses in Wales.
The farmhouse has a wealth of original oak beams and panels and the lounge has an inglenook fireplace for those cozy winter's evenings.
The family kitchen has an electric oven a gas hob, a fridge freezer, a microwave and a dishwasher.
Gwytheryn is suitable for a wheelchair user; it has a ground floor twin bedroom which has an en-suite bathroom with a wheel in shower.
Upstairs there are two double bedrooms, one with an adjoining twin bedroom with the original paneling still in situe. There are another two bathrooms upstairs one with a bath and the other with a shower.
The private garden and picnic area adds to the luxury and homely atmosphere of this farmhouse, and the owners hope the children will enjoy the play area and games room.
Additional information: One dog welcome. Bath towels and hand towels are supplied (not beach towels). Logs and coal are provided for the open fire. There is a shared (with one other property) laundry room and games room. Gwytheryn is on an organic farm with plenty of off road parking and a welcome pack is provided.
