Farchynys Hall - Bontddu, Nr Barmouth, Gwynedd, Snowdonia, Wales - Sleeps 6
Farchynys Hall is an impressive historic country house that sits within lovely landscaped gardens and affords views of mountains, sea and river. This charming retreat offers self catering holiday accommodation for two to six guests in the wing of a Victorian Manor House.
Ideally positioned, Farchynys Hall sits on the banks of the Mawddach estuary, in the shadow of the Cader Idris mountain range within the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. Here you can explore the vast network of paths and glades around Farchynys Hall where you can enjoy magical views.
Located one mile west of the village of Bontddu on the A496 Dolgellau to Barmouth road, Farchynys Hall provides the ideal retreat from which to explore the sandy beaches of the West Coast, and the mountains of Snowdonia - with plenty of activities to enjoy to suit all energy levels
Southern Snowdonia is one of the best kept secrets of Wales. It offers pure natural beauty where the mountains meet the sea, yet unlike some other areas, it is not overrun by tourists. There are miles of beautiful sandy beaches where you can find a peaceful spot to quietly relax or walk for hours and see just a few others.
Bontddu has a convenience store and pub and is mid-way between the market town of Dolgellau and the picturesque seaside town of Barmouth, both offering seafood restaurants, galleries, shops, cafes and pubs.
There are plenty of things to see and do in the area including: Fairbourne Railway; Go-Ape at nearby Coed Y Brennin, with its giant obstacle course up in the trees; Discover the magic of Talyllyn and Ffestiniog Railways to name just a few. For birdwatchers, the Mawddach Estuary is an excellent place to watch gulls and wading birds and has two RSPB reserves at Coed Garth Gell (adjoining Farchynys Hall) and Arthog Bog.
The surrounding area offers superb opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities including walking, climbing, cycling, sailing at Barmouth and horseriding.
