Between Shrewsbury and Ludlow lies the timeless and unspoilt, Shropshire Border hill-country which offers a wonderful mix of moorland, deep wooded river valleys and lovely rolling farmland.

One of its nicest stretches lies between Bishops Castle and Clun crested by the ancient hill-top camp of Bury Ditches. From the summit, stunning views range as far south as the Forest of Dean, westwards deep into Wales and east towards Wenlock Edge.

Lower Down just below is a tranquil hamlet of two farms and ten cottages surrounded by woodland and sheep-fields. The cottage is at the end of a terrace but enclosed by a very large secluded garden with flower-beds, lawns and a patio. It has its own driveway entrance and parking. The views from the cottage are excellent especially towards the Long Mynd.

There are plenty of interesting places and attractions to see with castles dotted everywhere and charming market towns such as Ludlow, Bishops Castle, Clun and Montgomery. The area is especially good for walking with Offa’s Dyke and the Jack Mytton Way nearby. Fishing is also possible down the hill at Walcott Hall.
