Stiperstones View - Self catering holiday cottage in Shelve, Minsterley, Shropshire, England - Sleeps 2
Lower Farm Holidays offer two delightful holiday retreats that are perfect for couples, located in the beautiful South Shropshire rolling countryside. With wonderful walking and stunning views, the cottages provide a peaceful getaway that is still within easy reach of Shrewsbury, Ludlow, the Stretton Hills and the Ironbridge Gorge.
Lower Farm is a smallholding that sits in an enviable position in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the small village of Shelve which enjoys panoramic views over the surrounding hills. Mobile phones do not work here, allowing you to get away from the pressures of every day life (but there is wi-fi for those who have to keep in touch with the outside world!).
The house and its outbuildings have been lovingly restored using traditional building techniques and sustainable materials to preserve the character of the farmstead. Guests are welcome to wander over four acres of pastureland, home to sheep and free range chickens and can enjoy produce when in season from the vegetable garden which is run on organic principles.
This is walking country at its very best offering everything from a gentle half hour stroll to Shelve Pool to a strenuous day's hike over the Devil's chair - all starting from the front door. The farm is on the route of the circular 'Flenny Bank Walk', along with the BC-ring. The Mucklewick Walk can be picked up just down the hill and it is possible to join the Shropshire Way and walk to Bishops Castle and then catch the bus back. In addition, the farm is a few minutes' drive or a stroll from the Stiperstones ridge and there are plenty of other walks in the surrounding area that can be enjoyed. The Shropshire Hills Shuttle also provides access to many walking areas and allows you to explore the surrounding countryside without the use of a car.
The area is popular with cyclists and the owners keep a couple of bikes that guests can use, along with providing secure bike storage should you wish to bring your own. There are also local opportunities for those who enjoy fishing.
The market town of Bishop’s Castle is nine miles by car and offers a good range of shops, pubs, coffee houses and a small vegetable and general market each week, along with a farmers market every third Saturday. With its own unique character, many people fall for Bishop's Castle's quirky charm.
Ludlow and Shrewsbury are also within easy reach, offering a more sophisticated shopping experience in a lovely setting with historic buildings, shops and fantastic restaurants. Telford has a larger selection of shopping malls and chain stores for the serious shopper!

Reviews and Testimonials for Stiperstones View
Wonderful location, Studio all we expected it to be - best bed in any cottage we've been to! - D & C July 12
If you enjoy either walking or sight-seeing I can thoroughly recommend Lower Farm where the accommodation is also first class. The Shropshire hills, including the Stiperstones and the Welsh borders are very close by, in fact several walks can be taken directly from the farm. Ironbridge with its ten museums and RAF Museum Cosford are about 30 - 40 minutes drive away so there is plenty to do for all. Although the cooking facilities are fully up to date, try the nearby Stiperstones Inn, food is excellent and inexpensive. The owners of Lower Farm make you feel very much at home, so much so you will want to return, we definitely will. ES - Oct 2011
We wanted a romantic break for our anniversary and the Studio delivered perfectly. SR Feb 2012
This quiet extremely well equipped studio is spacious and comfortable with stunning views. The surrounding area is perfect for "from the door" bike rides and walks. The stiperstones are just 10 minutes away by bike and the lanes, tracks and bridleways of Shropshire are excellent fun and very quiet. FS, Ayr - Aug 2011
This was an ideal property for us - right size, beautiful views, and the laundry room was a bonus for dealing with wet and dirty walking clothes. BJ - May 2011
The atmosphere at the property was relaxing and we really had no worries at all. All equipment was top class and there were plenty of thoughtful touches such as good quality condiments in the cupboards and a welcome pack so we could have a cuppa on arrival. The good quality and clean garden furniture was especially welcome so we could sit outside and eat. - Mrs P April 2011
We’ve just spent a wonderful few days in The Studio barn apartment which must have the best view of any holiday cottage we’ve stayed in! A really well equipped place with everything we needed and considering the bedroom and living room are one area, it’s really spacious. Cows, sheep, farm cats and loads of different types of birds (we saw a circling buzzard that was just incredible!) can all be seen from the window sill. We'll be back! AG, March2011
