Townhead Farm Cottage sits in an idyllic position on a stretch of picturesque coastline, with miles of beautiful sandy beaches right on the doorstep. Sleeping four to six guests (four adults or two adults and four children), the cottage is situated on the Scottish Borders, conveniently located with both East Lothian and Berwickshire nearby - you really are spoilt for choice!
This delightful holiday cottage is located on a working farm, just twenty miles north of the historic Georgian market town of Berwick-on-Tweed. With easy access to the A1, it is a convenient base from which to explore the areas many attractions.
Sitting on the edge of the Southern Upland way (and with direct access at Pease Dean), this tranquil holiday cottage offers superb walking opportunities. Cockburnspath is at one end of the Southern Upland Way and the walks in the surrounding area are simply stunning. From the cottage you can enjoy a pleasant stroll down to the beach and caravan park at Pease Bay or join the John Muir Way which forms part of this route and provides an extensive coastal route through East Lothian.
The area offers plenty of other outdoor activities and as expected, many that are water based including surfing, boat trips, fishing, diving and bird watching. Within ten miles of the cottage you will find the Scottish Sea Bird Centre at North Berwick, St Vedas Surf School at Coldingham and you have a choice of fishing trips from Eyemouth and St Abbs.
Renowned for castles and fortresses, the Scottish Borders has plenty of historic monuments to visit in the area including Hailes, Floors and Tantallon. Further afield Bamburgh, Alnwick and Lindisfarne castles are all worth visiting and easily accessible from the cottage for a day trip. Other places of interest include St Abbs, North Berwick, Coldingham and Berwick-upon-Tweed.
