Hardgatehead Cottage sleeps up to six guests and provides a high standard of holiday accommodation that is a peaceful retreat at any time of the year - in the summer you can sit on the decking area and take in the wonderful view and in the winter curl up in front of the log burner and watch the flames flicker.
Located in the heart of the Peeblesshire countryside, the cottage is just one mile from the village of West Linton in the Scottish Borders and under twenty miles from the City of Edinburgh.
There are plenty of things to see and do in the Scottish Borders and around Edinburgh. For those looking for a fun-packed holiday, you can enjoy historic walks through the countryside and ancient architecture, or something more exhilarating like mountain biking at Glentress or hot-air-ballooning. Alternatively, use the cottage as a base for a fishing holiday or for enjoying the outdoor activities available locally including horse riding, golf, walking and bike riding. There is a wide selection of walks in the immediate area allowing you to explore it by foot and the cottage is a mile from the nearest neighbour, so you'll be assured of a peaceful experience should you want to simply relax and unwind amongst beautiful countryside.
Whether you are a historian, a whisky lover, a theatre buff, or an all round explorer, there's plenty of choice if you want to get out and about during your holiday with attractions including: Rosslyn Chapel; Linlithgow Palace - the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots; Dawyck Botanic Gardens; Glenkinchie Distillery; Falkirk Wheel; New Lanark World Heritage Site; Scottish Mining Museum and the enchanting City of Edinburgh with its world class shopping, cobbled streets, castle, vast selection of eating establishments and much more.

Accommodation compromises:
Master bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite shower room. There is a patio door where guests can access beautiful views.
Twin bedroom which can also be made into a double, again with patio door to appreciate the scenery.
Sleeping loft which is ideal for children and accessed by their own stair. This area has two beds which provide an escape for youngsters with a Velux overlooking the southerly views.
Large entrance hall, complete with large cupboard to accommodate coats/boots etc and small cupboard which houses the washing machine.
Large family bathroom.
Open plan kitchen/dining/living space.
Outside: A Gas barbeque and garden furniture are provided on the covered deck area in front of the house. Parking is available for three cars and access to the cottage is up a farm track which is not tarmacked so it may not be ideal for very low cars, but quite satisfactory for the average family car. There is an outside drying area and covered parking with lockable storage for bikes etc (there are some bikes available for guest's use). The storage area (shed) is fairly cosy as it is insulated and houses the woodpellet boiler for the underfloor heating (dogs can be left to dry here). There is also a large sink and hose for cleaning muddy outdoor equipment and a pulley for drying washing/coats. A dog walk will soon be constructed in the wooded area behind the cottage, which will enable guest's to let their dog stretch its legs off lead when the owner's have livestock in the surrounding fields.
Additional information: Facilities include washing machine/dishwasher, two televisions with DVD players and stereo with iPod docking station. A cot and highchair can be provided as required. One well behaved dog is welcome provided they don’t need to sleep on the furniture and are not left unattended in the cottage (speak to the owner's about more than one dog). Grazing in a securely fenced field directly behind the cottage is available if you would like to bring your own horse or there is stabling nearby (ten minute walk). Dogs and horses incur an extra charge.
