Begrum - Self catering holiday cottage in Kelso, Nr Northumberland, Scottish Borders, Scotland - Sleeps 2+2
Burnbrae is home to three one bedroom, four star rated cottages and guests who stay will find tranquillity, comfort, space and a refreshing absence of problems. The site is surrounded by agricultural land but is no longer a working farm. The owners time and other resources are devoted to ensuring that guests have an idyllic experience in the Scottish Borders. They live on the site and are pleased to help guests with information and other assistance.
This is an ideal area for those who enjoy walking and cycling with secure bike storage and a heated drying cupboard in each cottage. Not only are there some lovely short walks within Burnbrae but there are also walks that start directly from the site with a wide choice of walking to suite all levels, where you can take in the spectacular scenery. Cycling is a particular pleasure with a good network of quiet lanes around Burnbrae. In the hills there are plenty of tracks and the Glentress Forest provides extensive cycle tracks which are separate from the walking paths (mountain bikes can be hired at the main entrance to the forest). Horse riding is a very popular past time in the Scottish Borders, as is fishing and golf, with numerous courses within easy reach of Burnbrae. The Scottish Borders also has a wealth of culture and history and many beautiful gardens and historic properties to visit. For those happy to travel a little further afield, the Northumberland border is just six miles away and the Northumberland National Park is twelve miles.
Each cottage is light and airy with plenty of space. From the dining area of the living room, there is direct, level access to a south-facing conservatory with splendid views across the secluded garden, river and the Tweed valley to the Cheviot hills and the border between Scotland and England.
Each cottage is generously equipped for two to four guests for self catering. All of the rooms are on the same level and reached from the car park without any step up or down. Cars can approach close to the main entrance of each cottage for loading. There is a large, private car park adjacent to the cottages.
