About Cockle Kitty Cottage

Three delightful welcoming holiday cottages created from a former barn, sitting in an elevated peaceful position within easy reach of Kelso in the Scottish Borders - ideal for shopping, eating out and local attractions.

Within easy access of Kelso, the cottages are ideal for shopping, eating out and local attractions, along with relaxing weekends away.

Sir Walter Scott described Kelso as 'The most beautiful, if not the most romantic town in Scotland' and you will understand why when you visit. This vibrant town enjoys a picturesque setting amongst the Cheviots, with the River Tweed adding to its beauty and attracting fishermen hoping to catch salmon from far and wide. The gorgeous townhouses and 18th century cobbled square lined with fantastic shops selling pottery, tweeds, cashmere and local essential produce, give the town a sophisticated bustling feel with a French market atmosphere, making shopping a real treat whether you are searching for Christmas presents, essentials or holiday gifts.

Sitting at Reiver Country's very heart, Kelso is an excellent base for discovering all the best bits of the Scottish Borders with all its intriguing history, sports facilities, geography, superb eateries and both outdoor and relaxing activities. The Borders attract people from around the world not only for their beauty but for salmon fishing and Kelso is no exception with the renowned 'Junction Pool' on the river Tweed (brown trout fishing is also available on the river Tweed and its tributaries and The Eden offers grayling fishing - free to guests by arrangement with the owners).

  • For those seeking action - new tennis courts, golf, the Tweed Cycle Way, horse racing, pony trekking, curling, ice-skating, fishing, great walking and beaches.
  • For relaxing - retail therapy, beauty salons, historic houses and gardens, the Border Abbeys and the quaint Roxy cinema.
  • For eating out - Kelso offers a good choice of pubs including the Queenshead Bistro, The Cobbles and an excellent wine bar called Oscars.
