Le-Gro Barns is home to two eco-friendly luxurious holiday homes that can each sleep two to six guests in two bedrooms. This 17th Century stone barn has been beautifully converted to provide holiday accommodation of a high standard that perfectly combines a modern contemporary design with traditional character. The owner's have, wherever possible, sought to incorporate green technologies to reduce the carbon foot print, without compromising comfort or style!
Ideally positioned on the banks of the River Tanat on the Shropshire/Wales borders, Le-Gro Barns is located in Wales and sits within spectacular countryside, affording panoramic views. It is located in the magnificent Tanat valley, residing down a quiet drive in a tranquil position. With Le-Gro Barns being in the spectacular setting of the Welsh Marches, it provides a superb base from which to explore the stunning countryside on the doorstep or to visit the market towns of Welshpool, Oswestry and the medieval towns of Chester and Shrewsbury.
The rivers Vyrnwy and Tanat provide fantastic coarse and game fishing and being set so close to the floodplains of two rivers, the landscape has been shaped by alluvial deposits leading to unique flora and fauna.
Le-Gro Barns provides a wonderful location for a family to have a memorable holiday exploring the many delights that this part of the country has to offer. It is also a lovely place to come as a couple and enjoy a high standard of country living with time to relax and unwind amongst beautiful scenery. Whether you want fabulous country walks, have a fun day out with the children, play a round of golf or simply do nothing but read a book or relax on the river bank, Le-Gro Barns has it all.
The Byre provides ground floor accommodation which has been designed with easy accessibility for wheelchair users, with full width doorways and tiled floors throughout. The Granary sits on the first floor and is accessed by an oak staircase and once inside, everything is on one level with generous proportions and high ceilings offering exceptional views over the surrounding countryside.
The village of Llansantffraid is just over a mile away where you will find a small grocery shop, a garage with a well stocked shop, a Spar and Post Office, two pubs, a stylish restaurant, an Indian restaurant and takeaway and a fish and chip shop. In the next villages of Llanymynech and Four Crosses there are also Chinese takeaways. Oswestry has bigger supermarkets including an M&S food hall and Sainsbury’s.
The medieval town of Shrewsbury is within a thirty minute drive and well worth a visit with its castle, fine architecture, good selection of shops, restaurants and cafes. It has the river Severn running through it and is the birth place of Charles Darwin. Chester, a beautiful historic city is just a little further away and is a must for anyone who enjoys history, architecture and shopping.

The Byre is on the ground floor and offers stylish holiday accommodation that is accessible to wheel chair users. Accommodation comprises:
Bespoke kitchen with large wooden dining table to seat six and access to the outdoor area where you can enjoy alfresco dining in the warmer weather. The kitchen is equipped with fridge/freezer, gas hob and electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.
Master bedroom with double bed, bespoke bedroom furniture and en suite facilities that include a wet room finished in natural lime stone tiles.
Twin room with two single beds that can be linked together to provide a super-king bed by prior arrangement.
Family bathroom with modern fittings and natural limestone tiles on the walls and floor. There is a WC, wash basin, bath and separate shower/wet room area that can be accessed by wheelchair users (a shower chair can be provided by requested at the time of booking).
Spacious lounge with wonderful original features including exposed stone wall and Jotul wood burner for those cosy winter evenings. There is a large forty seven inch flat screen FreeSat television, HD DVD player and two leather sofas (one which can be converted to a bed settee that will sleep two), along with doors to an outside seating area where you can enjoy the spectacular sunsets.
The Granary is on the first floor and offers light and airy holiday accommodation that affords spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. Accessed by an oak staircase, once inside the accommodation is all on one level and comprises:
Large fully equipped bespoke wooden kitchen with fantastic granite work tops, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, gas hob and electric oven, washing machine and large wooden six seater dining table with chairs.
Master bedroom with double bed, bespoke bedroom furniture and en suite facilities including a wet room finished in natural lime stone tiles.
Twin room with two single beds that can be linked together to provide a super-king size bed by prior arrangement. There is a purpose built wardrobe and draws for each guest.
The main bathroom has been finished in natural limestone wall and floor tiles, with modern fittings including a WC, wash basin, full sized bath and separate shower/wet room area.
Large spacious lounge that has retained some wonderful original features including the exposed stone wall. There is a jotul wood burner for cosy nights in and a large forty two inch flat screen FreeSat television and HD DVD player. In the lounge there are two real leather sofas. One of these can be converted to a bed settee that will sleep two.
Outside: Each accommodation has a six seater patio set and BBQ for enjoying alfresco dining, with ample garden area and grounds for relaxing. The river can be easily accessed via a short walk (approximately fifty meters away) down the drive and across a small field and provides a great place for paddling and canoeing. The area is fenced with a gate which is not always closed, so care must be taken with guests who have young children. There is off road parking for two cars with garage space for one.
Additional information: Luxury bath sheets and hand towels are provided. The first basket of logs is free and more can be purchased on request. There is a wired network and Wi-Fi access for guest's use. Orange and T-mobile provide good reception. There is thermostatically controlled under floor heating in each room. All mattresses are pocket sprung and have luxury Egyptian cotton 400 count bedding to ensure a good nights sleep. Hairdryer provided. Short breaks available either Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday. Christmas and New Year rate is £750. A discount for couples is offered out of peak season i.e. October November and January assuming only one bedroom is used.
