Montgomeryshire is known as "the Paradise of Wales", and this charming cottage is at the very heart of that paradise in Mid Wales.
The area is beautiful, ranging from fertile farm land in the valleys to mountainous regions with lakes and forests. For visitors with time to walk and explore, the countryside is perfection. The nearby Hafren Forest, from which the Rivers Hafren (Severn), Wye and Rheidol rise, has many signposted walks and bounds the Clywedog Dam, home to sailing, fishing and nature trails.
Further south near Rhayader is the home of the Red Kite. Here, there are nature walks from the Elan Valley visitors centre and a farm where, in winter, visitors can see the Red Kites feed. For the more active visitor there are two local golf courses, a driving range, pony and quad trekking, clay pigeon shooting and a sports centre with facilities for badminton, squash and swimming.
The Cottage is set in secluded and tranquil countryside. The nearest village is Trefeglwys, (1½ miles) which has a local pub and a well-stocked shop. Newtown (the largest town in Mid Wales) and Llanidloes can be reached by car within 20 minutes.

Reviews and Testimonials for Lower Doglgenau (The Cottage)
Rural location and character quiet with stunning views.
The property is full of character and in a lovely location this holiday was taken in November so the trees were a bit bare but I should imagine that it would be glorious in the Spring, fully recommend this property.
Stunning location, amazingly peaceful, and wonderfully warm.
Really cosy little converted barn in the middle of nowhere. Owner is helpful and lovely. Local landscape is beautiful.
Very tastful, comfortable and very relaxing. Great lamps and log fire!
Location perfect.
The cottage was exactly as described and we loved it as soon as we saw it. The location is great for a break to get away from a hectic lifestyle and meets all requirements.
Scenery and walking were beautiful and very easily accessible. Closer to coast than we expected, Aberdovey was lovely and lake very nearby which we had not realised.
This was a last minute booking and we could not have been happier with the price and standard of the property.
