Lilac Cottage is a delightful whitewashed stone holiday cottage that is ideally located just a couple of minutes walk up from the High Street of the charming town of Presteigne.
Formerly a pair of 17th century cottages, today as one, this delightful cottage offers a lovely warm and cosy home with a wealth of character, exposed beams and stone walls.
Presteigne was once the county town of Radnorshire and now in Powys, it nestles at the heart of the Marches on the border of Wales and England with the River Lugg acting as the border.
Voted one of the safest towns in the country, Presteigne sits perfectly on the corner of the three counties of Powys, Shropshire and Herefordshire making it ideally located for exploring these three delightful counties with the delightful market towns of Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Hay-on-Wye and Hereford all just a short drive away.
Within its own right, Presteigne is a town to be visited with a lot going on at any time of the year. The High Street has a good range of individual shops, pubs (five of them!), restaurants and services. The surrounding rolling countryside of hills and valleys is spectacular and perfect for both the committed and casual walkers.
The historic Offa’s Dyke passes Presteigne by just a mile or two, offering spectacular walks and views as does Radnor Forest which is just a further few miles to the west.
For those who enjoy sport, Presteigne has its own leisure centre attached to the local school and a number of golf courses within easy reach with the nearest being at Kington (the highest golf course in England at 1200+ feet above sea level with the most spectacular of views!).
