Swift Cottage sleeps up to five guests in three bedrooms and is an attractive, 18th Century, fully modernised holiday cottage that is located in the heart of the Peak District.
Once part of the Duke of Devonshire's manor, Swift Cottage is a homely and warm, stone-built cottage that is located in an enviable position on the edge of the village of Tideswell, the 'Cathedral of the Peak'. 'Townhead', as the area is locally known, is a haven of tranquillity and surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, yet it benefits from being just a few minute's walk away from the vibrant busy village centre which offers a good range of amenities.
One of four such properties adjoined in an isolated southerly-facing terrace, it benefits from all day sunshine and glorious views over the dale and rolling Derbyshire countryside. Recently returned to local ownership, the cottage has been sympathetically restored to offer modern facilities whilst retaining its lovely original feel. The owners live just a short walk from the cottage and are on hand to meet you and show you around the cottage upon arrival.
This delightful holiday cottage makes a perfect base for exploring the area by foot with some fine walking with many of the White Peaks finest dales just a short distance away. It is also ideal for those who enjoy fishing, gliding, parasailing and cycling, as well as being a good base for visiting the many attractions this part of Derbyshire has to offer. These include: Tideswell Church (known as the Cathedral of the Peak); Ladybower Reservoir and the dams; the Castleton Caverns; Chatsworth House; Haddon Hall and the towns of Bakewell (probably the most picturesque town in Derbyshire) and Buxton (home to the world famous opera house and festival).
The ancient village of Tideswell is located just six miles east of Buxton, in a wide dry valley. It is renown for its annual Well Dressing, which starts on the nearest Saturday to the 24th June and continues for a week with carnivals, parades and fun for the whole family. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in both the village itself and the immediate surrounding area.
Swift Cottage is perfectly positioned for enjoying the breathtaking scenery, bustling market towns, vibrant cities, action-packed outdoor activities, historic properties and the many other attractions that the area has to offer.

Accommodation sleeps up to five guests and comprises:
Attractive sitting room with solid oak floor, leather corner sofas and cast iron log burning stove. For entertainment there is a 32" television with HD FreeSat and a Blu Ray player, CD player/radio/iPod docking station and a selection of DVDs, board games, playing cards, Ordnance Survey maps and local walking/countryside books. Free wireless broadband is also provided for internet access, together with a landline phone for incoming calls.
Modern kitchen/diner which is well equipped with electric oven and Gas hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge/freezer.
Downstairs comfortably sized bathroom with stone tiled floor, powerful shower fed by the combination boiler, washbasin, heated towel rail and lavatory.
Utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Outside: To the front of the cottage is a spacious paved patio area with scenic views over the dale, with steps down to the lane through the cottage garden. Main access is via the level footpath which runs across the front of all four cottages. Parking is off-road in a parking area to the rear of the terrace and also on the surrounding lanes nearby. Behind the cottage is a paved, elevated patio with a shed suitable for mountain bike/cycle storage. Both front and rear patio areas benefit from all day sun and are equipped with hardwood tables, umbrellas, chairs, benches and sun loungers for guests enjoyment. The front patio with its scenic views is perfect for dining out and barbecues and wood burning chimineas are provided.
Additional information: Full Gas central heating and double-glazing. Children’s play area and green through the rear garden gate. Pets welcome, but please keep them downstairs. Cot and high chair available. Linen and towels are provided for all guests and heating, power and an initial supply of wood for the log burning stove are included in the price.
