The Old Currier Shop is a charming holiday cottage which was once a shop used for the curing of leather hides. Today it provides stylish and comfortable holiday accommodation for four to six guests and an ideal base for exploring this beautiful area.
Centrally located, The Old Currier Shop is situated on the southern edge of the Peak District so an ideal base for those who enjoy walking or cycling. It is located in the heart of the thriving historic market town of Wirksworth which offers a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants and is surrounded by rolling hills.
The owners have tastefully furnished the holiday cottage to provide well equipped accommodation which retains much character. They have taken an environmental approach wherever possible, using non toxic paints, mattresses free of bromates, bamboo flooring and some towels and bed linen which are organic. Items have also been purchased locally to support the local economy.
Wirksworth is almost completely surrounded by hills and within easy reach of spectacular scenery. It has many places of interest, including an enthusiast's railway line and the heritage centre. Popular destinations such as Matlock and Carsington Water are only five miles away and the High Peak Trail and Peak District National Park are only two miles from Wirksworth.
The town itself has a fascinating industrial heritage and was once the centre of the lead mining industry. Today it is a thriving market town with facilities including: two butchers; bakeries; a cheese shop; chemist; toyshop; two banks (with ATMs) and some marvelous tea rooms, takeaways and restaurants. There is also a good selection of pubs to choose from.

The Old Currier Shop is a charming two bedroom holiday cottage which offers the following accommodation and facilities:
Master bedroom (upstairs) with lovely antique brass bed.
Second bedroom which is charmingly furnished with twin beds.
Open plan living area down stairs including: living room which is bright and airy, with a sofa bed, lovely open fire, armchairs, a stereo and a TV; kitchen which is fully contained with dishwasher, washing machine and microwave and dining area seating four to six guests.
Bathroom with bath and shower over it.
Small patio garden behind the cottage, with chairs and a BBQ.
Off street parking for two cars and a secure area in the garage for bikes.
The Old Currier Shop is on a quiet but centrally located road in Wirksworth, only a couple of minutes walk to the town centre.
