Homestead Cottage sleeps up to six guests and is one of two comfortable 4 star holiday cottages that are located on Ravenscliffe Farm in the South of the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire. It is situated in peaceful rural surroundings and is an ideal place for those who enjoy walking and outdoor activities. Ravenscliffe Farm is also well located for visiting local attractions including Alton Towers which is under a half hour drive.

The drive to the cottage is three hundred metres long, which ensures the cottages are nicely set back away from the road and that traffic noise is not an issue.

Bentley Brook Inn is just one mile from the cottages and hosts wedding ceremonies and other events throughout the year. The delightful market town of Ashbourne is two and a half miles away and offers a variety of shops, eating establishments (including fine dining) and recreational facilities.

There are some lovely walks from the cottages to local pubs where you can enjoy lunch. Try The Coach and Horses which is a mile and a half away in Fenny Bentley serving good home cooked food. Carsington Water Reservoir is only a ten to fifteen minute drive and offers sailing, walking, cycling and a Visitor's Centre with activities, shops and a cafe.

Local activities within a three mile radius of the cottages include: Walks from the front door; Tissington and Tissington Trekking Centre; Cycle Hire from Ashbourne at the start of the Tissington Trail; Hot Air Ballooning from Tissington; Swimming and Squash etc at the Leisure Centre in Ashbourne and the activities listed above at Carsington Water Reservoir.

This is an ideal area for nature lovers with many different species of birds which can be viewed from the hides located around Carsington Water Reservoir. There is also a conservation area on the farm, which has been set aside for the wildlife. Badger sets are a part of the farms landscape with each set located closely to the stream which the badgers attend. Various wild animals live around the farm including rabbits, stoats, brown hares, weazles, foxes, cattle and sheep roam the fields.

Megan and Heidi are the owners friendly Miniature Shetlands. Fudge is a standard Shetland who will hopefully be able to give young children rides when she grows up. For now they are all happy to be groomed and like lots of cuddles. They were all born in May 2010.

For those who want to explore the wider area, there are a number of cities and towns within easy reach including: Nottingham, Manchester, Derby, Birmingham, Stoke-On-Trent and Sheffield. Mainline railway connections are available close by in Matlock and Derby and Manchester, Birmingham and East Midlands Airports all within approx one hour away by car.
