A cosy romantic holiday home located in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Brake a-Wey House is in an ideal location for a relaxing break or for visiting the major attractions within the area including Chatsworth House and Alton Towers. It is also perfect for enjoying activities such as cycling and walking and a great place to stay when you just want to get away from it all and enjoy the spectacular views or stroll along to the local friendly country pub for a meal or refreshments (dogs welcome).
With lovely far reaching views, Brake a-Wey House is just a fifteen minute walk into the historic town centre of Matlock where you will find a supermarket, a variety of shops and eating establishments including Thai, Indian and Italian. There is also a train station providing an hourly service to Derby (thirty minutes) where you can pick up all national connections. Matlock also has a great park which includes a skate board course, tennis court and a children’s play area with boat ride.
There are a great selection of local walks on the door step and you will find plenty of tourist information including books, maps etc to help you plan your stay and get the most out of your time in this delightful holiday home.
Surrounded by some of the prettiest villages in England, Brake a-Wey House is near to the ancient market towns of Buxton, Wirksworth and Bakewell which all have regular markets, cafes, good shops and antique centres. Matlock Bath is only a five minute drive where you will find caves, a theme park for the children and a cable car. For motor bike enthusiasts, a visit on a Sunday is a must!
The Peak District has some of the most stunning countryside in the country and covers five hundred square miles across several counties. It attracts visitors from all over the world and is famous for its pure natural beauty and diverse landscape from peaks and dales, to picturesque post-card villages.
Walkers can enjoy The Tissington Trail, Manifold Trail and the High Peak Trail and families can take an adventure down caves, view the scenery from high above in a cable car or wander around the many farmers’ markets and pick up some local produce for supper.
With Manchester, Nottingham Sheffield and Derby within an hour’s drive and all easily accessible by train, there is plenty to keep the keen shopper happy! Children too will not be disappointed with plenty to do whatever the weather and the active will be spoilt for choice with walking, mountain biking, rock climbing, potholing, ballooning and gliding to name just a few.

Break a-Wey House sleeps up to four guests and offers self catering accommodation with a high degree of style and charm. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a Gas ceramic hob, electric oven, microwave, toaster and fridge (with small freezer). It is open to the south facing bright and spacious living area with a Derbyshire Stone fireplace as the main feature, along with two comfortable sofas for you to relax in whilst watching your favourite programs on a 34" flat screen television. Also included is a DVD player, CD/radio, board games, books and tourist information.
The main bedroom benefits from a double wardrobe, a small dressing room providing plenty of storage space for your bags and cases, a dressing table and an arm chair. A clock, hairdryer and iron/ironing board are also provided and to ensure guests comfort, a choice of winter or summer weight duvets are available and all bedding is provided. The bathroom includes a bath with overhead shower, shaver plug and plenty of towels.
There is a small conservatory with a table and chairs where you can sit and take in the wonderful views whilst enjoying your morning coffee or a glass of wine on a summers evening. Step outside and you have your own private south facing terrace too with outdoor table and chairs, parasol plus a BBQ for guests use.
