Rosemary Cottage is a quaint 17th Century holiday cottage that is set in a peaceful village just a few minutes walk from the sea. With many original features including beamed ceilings, twisted staircases and very thick walls to keep you warm and cosy, the cottage is ideal at any time of the year.
Comfortably furnished with a well fitted kitchen, shower room, single bedroom and double bedroom with ensuite toilet, the cottage bedrooms afford sea views from both bedroom windows.
This is the perfect setting for walks, short or long, with access to the old railway path from Whitby to Scarborough which is also ideal for cyclists and dog walkers. A short walk takes you to Robin Hood's Bay, a village steeped in history of smugglers with a good choice of pubs and restaurants alongside craftshops and a lovely beach.
Fylingthorpe itself has an excellent pub which is just a short stroll from the cottage, serving good food (it is also dog friendly) and a general store and butchers, which is also a pizza takeaway a couple of nights a week.
A short drive away is Whitby, famous for its Goths, Dracula, James Cook and the 199 steps up to the Abbey, with beaches, museums, swing bridge and of course fish and chips! You will find plenty to keep you busy.
Follow the road to the Moors and there are lots of small villages to explore including Grosmont and Goathland, famous for the Steam Railway and home of ” Heartbeat”. Within an hour you can be in Staithes, again famous for James Cook; Runswick Bay, a pretty fishing village tucked into the side of a hill; or the Yorkshire Dales.
Eighteen miles in the other direction is Scarborough, a popular sea-side town with its own castle, lots of shopping and a very good Theatre.
