Fowl Green Farm is located in the village of Commondale in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and surrounded by beautiful Heartbeat country. It is just seven miles away from the coast at Saltburn and eighteen miles from Whitby, making this an excellent base from which to explore the wonderful North York Moors and all of its many attractions and interesting places to visit. The village also has a pub which is within walking distance of the cottages.
The present owners of this working farm live in the adjoining farmhouse and the livestock kept there include black face sheep, highland cattle, pigs, free range hens and their working sheepdog Nell.
Fowl Green Farm offers four delightful holiday cottages that have been beautifully restored from three hundred year old farm buildings to provide comfortable character holiday accommodation that is wheelchair accessible. Accommodating parties of two to sixteen (if all cottages are rented together), Fowl Green Farm is ideal for couples, families and also friends and families who want to holiday together.
Great care and attention has been made by the owners to enhance the natural beauty of the land. As part of a conservation scheme, wildflower meadows have been created and hundreds of oak trees have been planted, creating a haven for wildlife. The woods are home to a variety of wild flowers including primroses and colourful orchids and there are picnic areas in not only the woods but also the meadow and stream side areas for guests to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the countryside (many paths throughout the farm being wheelchair accessible).
The area is rich in wildlife including rabbits, deer and a wide variety of birds and this is a safe place for children to play and a great area for anyone who enjoys walking, cycling and riding. Its beauty also makes it ideal for artists and anyone with a keen interest in photography.

These four delightful holiday cottages are directly accessed by foot or vehicle from the road and are positioned around the farm yard. A covered car parking area is located at the top of the yard, making it possible to leave your car within a few feet of the cottages.
Consideration has been given to people with limited mobility to make access as easy as possible with part of the yard being resurface to make smooth footpaths with minimal gradient. In addition all cottages have very good level wheelchair access and have ground floor bedrooms and adapted bath/shower room.
The Cottages
The Barn is the largest cottage that sleeps six guests in two twin bedrooms and one double room (one downstairs and two upstairs). It benefits from under floor central heating, making it nice and cosy all year around and has plenty of hot water.
Cowbyre provides spacious ground floor accommodation for up to four guests in one double and one twin bedroom. Under floor heating provides all round warmth and this cottage has slate floors with a non slip surface and easy wheelchair access. The bathroom has a roll-in shower (thermostatically controlled), with drop down shower seat, grab rails, vanity basin with lever taps and Clos-o-mat toilet. The living area is open plan with dining table and chairs for four people; a lounge area with comfy seating, television and DVD player and a well equipped kitchen with different height work surfaces, built in oven, hob and extractor, fridge/freezer, sink with lever tap and microwave.
The Pigsties are both completely accessible on the ground floor. There is a dining room area plus kitchen with a hob set into work surfaces of variable height, combination microwave/grill or microwave/convection oven, fridge and cupboard/shelf space. The Bottom Pigsty sleeps four guests in a studio with one double bedroom downstairs and a mezzanine with twin beds upstairs. The Top Pigsty sleeps two guests in a studio with double bed.
Additional information: There is a free laundry available for use by guests, together with a pay phone. There is also a communal lounge/games room with Sky television and log burning stove.
