Situated just outside the village of Commondale, this tastefully furnished and well equipped holiday cottage is set in the heart of North Yorkshire approximately seventeen miles West of Whitby.
The area boasts both challenging and gentle walks, award winning museums, delightful villages and easy access to the seaside town of Whitby, the City of York and Heartbeat/Herriot Country.
The cottage is situated adjacent to the famous Esk Valley railway line which meanders its way through some of the most beautiful scenery in England and also links with the North York Moors steam Railway at Grosmont. From here a further trip can be taken under steam power to the bustling market town of Pickering.
Commondale is today a small peaceful village with a small church, public house and a station serving the Middlesbrough to Whitby Esk Valley line. It was once the meeting place of several moorland tracks; The Monks Causeway, which ran from Guisborough Priory To Whitby Abbey being one. The track is still in existence and runs up the side of the village green and over the moor.
There are plenty of lovely and interesting walks across the moors from Commondale, one being a bridle way to Castleton, which is approximately two and a half miles long, where you will find public houses, shops, post office and bank.

Originally a pig sty and a hay store, Diving Duckling Cottage has been tastefully converted sparing no expense to provide a compact but extremely comfortable open plan holiday cottage. The Cottage combines the convenience of modern day appliances with the comfort and character of the original building.
The conversion has been completed entirely by the owners Chris and Jean, who have gone to great lengths to ensure your every needs has been met. They have installed under floor heating to provide a pleasant atmosphere whatever the weather and a lovely log burner in the corner for curling up in front of on those more chilly nights.
The lounge and dining areas are slate tiled throughout which provides a hard wearing surface which will not mark with muddy dogs or wheelchairs.
The luxurious fully tiled shower room has a spacious level access shower with unlimited hot water and even the shower room floor is heated to make it warm under foot!
The dining area has comfortable seating and there is a well equipped kitchen containing an electric oven, ceramic hob, fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Outside in an adjacent building there is a washer dryer for guests use.
French doors open onto a south facing patio which overlooks the river. The patio is equipped with table, chairs and a Gas barbeque, providing the ideal place to relax or eat alfresco on those warm summer evenings. Steps lead down to a small garden with a secure lawn big enough for the children to play and let of steam or the dog to play safely.
