Balmoral is a charming Georgian sea captains house that was built in 1735. It has been lovingly restored to its former glory to provide very comfortable attractive holiday accommodation for up to twelve guests (ten in the main house and an additional two if the adjoining self-contained apartment is rented).
With an impressive hall and staircase and a wealth of original features including polished wood floors, real fires and beamed ceiling, Balmoral has been furnished and equipped to a high standard to ensure that guests have an enjoyable holiday experience.
Staithes is a quaint fishing village, just eleven miles north of Whitby, set on the dramatic and beautiful North Yorkshire Coast within the North York Moors National Park. It has a unique character and a special atmosphere and was once home to Captain James Cook back in 1744.
The old part of the village has a cobbled streets and little alleyways, lined with a collection of other pretty cottages, old inns, cafes, restaurants (including a critically acclaimed fish restaurant) and interesting little shops, meandering their way down to the sea between the dramatic cliffs.
The sky above the horizon is always different and lively in Staithes and you will soon realise why Staithes has attracted so many artists over the last hundred years or so. It has also attracted may families and couples who come to enjoy the lovely beach with rock pools to explore, framed between the sheltering cliffs.
There is plenty of interest for the whole family in the village itself and the ever popular coastal town of Whitby is just eleven miles to the south, providing a wide range of things to see and do for all ages.
This beautiful area of North Yorkshire provides both breathtaking coastal and beautiful inland walks. Locally there are a wide range of places to visit and things to do including stunning moorland walks, good beaches, a steam railway and historic buildings. There are plenty of things to do in Staithes without even leaving the village!
