Brackensyke Cottage affords stunning views from its wonderful elevated hillside position on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
Dating back to around the 18th Century, this delightful stone holiday cottage is ideal for couples who are looking for a peaceful retreat set amongst beautiful countryside. It affords its own secluded garden with decking area where you can relax with a good book or glass of wine and take in the glorious countryside views.
A five minute walk down a quiet leafy country lane (or two minute drive), takes you to the village of Ampleforth, which is well served with two excellent pubs/restaurants, post-office, general store/mini-market and fish/chip shop. There is also a leisure Centre with pool, gym, racket sports and children's activities within one mile.
This is the perfect location for a relaxing holiday where you can explore the area either by foot, bike or car. The area has much to offer all ages with beautiful villages, dramatic wild moorland, abbey ruins, North Yorkshire Railway, the City of York, Leeds, Harrogate, Ripon and country houses and gardens.
Alternatively, stay locally and enjoy walks through stunning scenery which is a haven for wildlife, from the front door of the cottage. Not only are there two pubs within walking distance but there are also several fantastic restaurants in close proximity and surrounding villages.
Ampleforth is a delightful village which is home to a large Catholic monastery and college, which has a sports centre that is open to the public, providing facilities including squash courts, indoor heated swimming pool, and an indoor sports hall. What is most noticeable about this pleasant and picturesque place is the sense of pride that people have for their home village. Everywhere you look there are immaculately kept properties and one thing is for certain - those who have lived in Ampleforth are usually reluctant to leave, and eager to return.
