Scoles Barn is a warm and welcoming detached holiday home, sleeping four people and ideal for two couples or a family. Dersingham is a thriving village in West Norfolk, blessed with two supermarkets, two pubs serving good local food, several fast food outlets and Thaxters, a popular coffee shop - all within five to ten minutes easy walking distance. In the nearby towns and villages there are plenty of eateries that pride themselves on promoting and supporting local farmers and food producers. Dersingham lies mid way between the seaside resort of Hunstanton, affectionately known as ‘Sunny Hunny’ and the medieval port of Kings Lynn with its links to the Hanseatic League.
West Norfolk is well blessed with many attractions to entertain the visitor all year round including Royal Sandringham only one and a half miles away and a little further afield lie the stately homes of Houghton, Holkham and Felbrigg Hall. There are many outdoor activities to enjoy including cycle routes, excellent walking, golfing and water sports. Dersingham is also convenient for exploring the wild North Norfolk coast with its vast beautiful sandy beaches which are just thirty minutes drive away.
The coastline of Norfolk is a must for birdwatchers, where you can see the large flocks of winter visitors in particular the pink-footed geese which are often seen flying overhead from their roost at RSPB Snettisham to the fields inland to feed. RSPB Titchwell is a short drive away with its expansive salt marshes and lagoons.
For walkers there are plenty of way marked paths, in particular the Peddars Way and the North Norfolk Coast Path which makes its way through salt marsh, quaint coastal villages and harbours and across glorious sandy beaches such as Brancaster, Holkham and Wells.
Cyclists will enjoy, as part of the National Cycle Network, the Peddars Way trail from the heaths of the Brecks to the wild North Norfolk coast or the Norfolk Coast Cycle way from Kings Lynn to Cromer.
Watersport enthusiasts can enjoy kite surfing, sailing and wind surfing at Hunstanton which also has a Sea Life Centre and offers traditional seaside attractions to tempt you away from the only west-facing beach in Norfolk. Golfers too are well catered for with notable clubs such as Kings Lynn at Castle Rising, Old Hunstanton at Hunstanton and the Royal West Norfolk at Brancaster.

Reviews and Testimonials for Scoles Barn
A lovely cosy comfortable holiday home with very thoughtful touches that made us feel really at home. And such a beautiful garden to relax in when the weather is good! Had some lovely walks along Holkham beach and Peddars Way, the walking books supplied were very useful. Jane, Ian & Norma, Cambs
Wonderful, clean and well equipped cottage. It provided more than we asked for. Even the weather was the kind we hoped for when planning this trip to the UK. For sure Hunstanton was the most remarkable place visited here though we also enjoyed Sandringham. Maggie & Ise, Germany
Excellent, clean and comfortable accommodation. Pleasant garden, nice to return to after a day out. Enjoyed visiting areas of Norfolk we had not been to before. Feeding the deer at Snettisham was a first. Thank you for a cosy home from home. Val & John, Leics.
Scoles Barn was a very lovely place to stay. Very comfortable and a super small garden. Thankfully the weather was great, our best trips out were certainly along the coast & in particular Wells-next-the-sea. A lovely coastline and great walks.

We have had a fantastic time here. We love the cottage and garden. Thank you for all the thoughtful touches that make this place a home from home. We enjoyed cycling, all the beaches, Wells beach was great, Pensthorpe was amazing and great fun. Oxburgh Hall is well worth a visit, had fun trying to get in and out of the Priest’s Hole. There was so much to see and do, not doubt we will be back.
Helen, Richard & Alexander, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
We both agree Scoles Barn is the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in. Sandringham is a must and there are so many places to enjoy and visit, we recommend Fakenham on Thursday market day, Cromer if you like the seaside and Great Yarmouth races if you like a combination of seaside and sport. Congratulations Kate & David you have really thought of everything anyone could ask for 10/10. John & Chris, Stoke-on-Trent
We did many of the same trips as the previous families. The Thursday market in Fakenham is worth a visit-we parked in the Tesco car park which seemed to be where all the locals had also parked. Overall a great week in a great house. We even had a whole week of fantastic weather. Peter Catherine & Megan, Sterling
Had a great stay at Scoles Barn – it is very much like a home from home, you have thought of so many details that are so helpful and it was spotless! Thank you for the thoughtful welcome pack. We visited lots in the area – enjoying Sandringham and the animal farm at Norfolk Lavender. We really liked Wells for the great beach nearby (cake at Beach Café was great), for shopping and fish and chips. Bircham Windmill was great for cycle hire and the bakery and gardens there were fab- with animal and play areas ideal for small children. Having a little one we didn’t eat out much but did enjoy The Feathers. Thank you again for a lovely house! Olly, Livvy & Bethan, Bromley Kent
This is the best self-catering holiday accommodation that we have experienced. It is tastefully furnished and decorated and very comfortable. It makes it a pleasure to return to after a day out. Mr & Mrs Hathaway have been very welcoming and we look forward to coming again next year. Also to make another visit to Holkham beach which was stunning! An interesting and enjoyable time can be had at Snettisham Park Farm deer safari. Lynda & Dave, Essex
What a perfect holiday cottage in a perfect location. We crammed lots in including visits to Cromer, Holt, Wells, Blakeney, Burnham Market, but by far the best was the quiet sandy beach at Holme-next-the-sea. We paddled in the sea and admired the variety of shells to be found. We then went to the White Horse for a late lazy meal in the lovely beer garden. A stop at Norfolk Lavender for ice creams. Sadly we have to leave but not before a quick visit to Sandringham and Caithness Chrystal on the way home. Thank you for making our stay at Scoles Barn truly wonderful. Gary, Nicola & Peter, Leics
Booked very last minute and definitely no regrets! Except perhaps for not being able to stay longer! A very warm and enthusiastic welcome from Kate & David, who are justifiably very proud of their barn and the area. Scoles Barn is excellent –not just spacious and well equipped functionally, but beautiful and also really carefully planned to feel like more than a home from home. Favourite things to do were visiting Blickling Hall East Ruston Vicarage gardens which are magnificent and long walks and paddles on Holkham beach. Vey much hope to return…. True relaxation achieved in just 3 days Thanks Kate & David. Mike, Kate & Tom, London
We've had a fabulous relaxing family holiday, a great find for our last minute getaway. Have really appreciated the care with which it has been equipped. We enjoyed the beaches and the Sandringham woods. The boys enjoyed Hunstanton best of all. Alison Neil Dan & Marcus, York
