Scoles Barn - Self catering holiday barn in Dersingham, King's Lynn, Norfolk, England - Sleeps 4

Scoles Barn

Scoles Barn is a warm and welcoming detached holiday home, sleeping four people and ideal for two couples or a family. It has recently been converted from an old stable constructed in traditional local carr stone and is newly furnished to a high 4 Star comfortable standard with full central heating. Conveniently tucked away in the centre of the village of Dersingham, Scoles Barn has private courtyard parking for two cars and a small pretty garden. With plenty of buses and access to the North Norfolk Coasthopper bus route, Scoles Barn is ideally situated for discovering Norfolk and suitable for people who want to leave the car at home and travel by public transport.

Dersingham is a thriving village in West Norfolk, blessed with two supermarkets, two pubs serving good local food, several fast food outlets and Thaxters, a popular coffee shop - all within five to ten minutes easy walking distance. In the nearby towns and villages there are plenty of eateries that pride themselves on promoting and supporting local farmers and food producers. Dersingham lies mid way between the seaside resort of Hunstanton, affectionately known as ‘Sunny Hunny’ and the medieval port of Kings Lynn with its links to the Hanseatic League.

West Norfolk is well blessed with many attractions to entertain the visitor all year round including Royal Sandringham only one and a half miles away and a little further afield lie the stately homes of Houghton, Holkham and Felbrigg Hall. There are many outdoor activities to enjoy including cycle routes, excellent walking, golfing and water sports. Dersingham is also convenient for exploring the wild North Norfolk coast with its vast beautiful sandy beaches which are just thirty minutes drive away.

The coastline of Norfolk is a must for birdwatchers, where you can see the large flocks of winter visitors in particular the pink-footed geese which are often seen flying overhead from their roost at RSPB Snettisham to the fields inland to feed. RSPB Titchwell is a short drive away with its expansive salt marshes and lagoons.

For walkers there are plenty of way marked paths, in particular the Peddars Way and the North Norfolk Coast Path which makes its way through salt marsh, quaint coastal villages and harbours and across glorious sandy beaches such as Brancaster, Holkham and Wells.

Cyclists will enjoy, as part of the National Cycle Network, the Peddars Way trail from the heaths of the Brecks to the wild North Norfolk coast or the Norfolk Coast Cycle way from Kings Lynn to Cromer.

Watersport enthusiasts can enjoy kite surfing, sailing and wind surfing at Hunstanton which also has a Sea Life Centre and offers traditional seaside attractions to tempt you away from the only west-facing beach in Norfolk. Golfers too are well catered for with notable clubs such as Kings Lynn at Castle Rising, Old Hunstanton at Hunstanton and the Royal West Norfolk at Brancaster.

With other attractions including Dersingham Bog a National Nature Reserve, Heacham Lavender, Snettisham Park Farm, Bircham Windmill and boat trips to see the seals, there is always plenty to keep you amused in Dersingham.

Reviews and Testimonials for Scoles Barn

2013
We've had a fabulous relaxing family holiday, a great find for our last minute getaway. Have really appreciated the care with which it has been equipped. We enjoyed the beaches and the Sandringham woods. The boys enjoyed Hunstanton best of all

Had a fantastic week away birdwatching at Titchwell Snettisham Wells & Blakeney. Pensthorpe is amazing-spent a full day there. Everything just perfect, hope to visit again.

We have had a lovely week here, getting lots of cycling on our tandem. The lanes to the south east of her are particularly good for cycling-very picturesque countryside. The bird sanctuary at Snettisham is well worth a visit if you like your bird watching with plenty of wildlife and hides. The barn has been perfect, warm and comfortable, with everything that you might need.
Anne and Paul, North Wales

We have had a lovely time at this beautiful barn, which proved to be a real home from home. We hope to return one day to do some more exploring in the warmer months.
David, Maria, Gracie and Harry, Ipswich

Second visit within a few months, certainly as good as the first time. Very comfortable, peaceful and quiet.
Andy and Vanessa, Dunstable

We have had four lovely days here in West Norfolk. The weather has been kind to us and the barn has been really comfortable. You must have spent a long time thinking of everything we could possibly want. We had a lovely day in Wells walking out to the beach and watching the seals at Blakeney. We spent a good day exploring Norwich and King’s Lynn was interesting too.
Elizabeth and Fred, Rayleigh

Scoles Barn is a perfect home from home. As well as lovely Sandringham we loved Wells-next-the-Sea and Cromer. Shopping with coffee and cakes in Burnham Market was also a highlight, as was exploring old King’s Lynn.

A perfect week away in a perfect home from home. Highlights – our day at Sandringham and collecting shells on Old Hunstanton beach, Pensthorpe was stunning and our 3 mile cliff top walk from Weybourne to Sheringham was exhilarating. Thank you for a superb and relaxing time in your beautiful barn and to top it all the sun shone EVERY day. Lucky us.
Margaret and Robert, Aylesbury

Thank you for your great barn, we have really felt at home! It is cosy, clean and practical. Although the weather was mostly rain we have done lots of trips. We very much liked Holkham, which we visited twice. The children loved Farmer Fred’s Play Barn, Dinosaur Adventure Park and Brancaster beach.
Thank you for a fantastic holiday.

Fantastic holiday accommodation, everything you could wish for & more. We’ve had a very busy week, taking the boat to see the seals & the boys enjoyed kayaking & crabbing at Blakeney. We cycled to Snettisham RSPB sanctuary, plenty of wildlife & even saw a grass snake. We went on the Broads at Wroxham-well worth a visit. Dersingham is a lovely village with everything to hand and there are so many lovely places to visit. Thank you for a fantastic base for our holiday.

We decided on a break in Norfolk at short notice. The barn is perfectly equipped & furnished by people who care & have an eye for detail. The garden is also a perfect place to sit in. Scoles Barn is perfectly located in the village and well placed to visit many places of interest, King’s Lynn, the cliff formations at Hunstanton, the Staithes, Blakeney and of course the lovely Sandringham. The cycling was good too.

Another lovely stay in Scoles Barn. Had brilliant week even though the weather not fantastic. Had lovely days on Brancaster and Snettisham beaches. Also had a great time catching crabs off the jetty at Heacham South beach. Our favourite day was hiring a boat a Wroxham, it rained cats and dogs, but still hugely enjoyable.
Hope to come again soon, a real home from home.
Paul, Debbie, William and Matthew. Broxbourne

Our best day was seeing the Olympic Flame at Sandringham then on to Morston Quay for a trip to see the seals at Blakeney Point. We have been coming to Norfolk for many years & Scoles Barn is one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in. We are sure to return.
Annette & Colin, Lancashire.

We had such a lovely week in the most beautiful place. Each local town or beach, Holme, Brancaster, Holkham with its own unique beauty. And how nice to come back tired at the end of the day to a lovely barn, comfortable, well equipped and very homely. A perfect holiday.

What a great place to stay, a home from home. Totally enjoyed our time here.
