Bacons is a detached house with spacious holiday accommodation sleeping up to ten guests in five bedrooms. Located on the edge of the New Forest National Park, on the outskirts of Hyde Common, Fordingbridge, this unpretentious country retreat provides an ideal base from which to enjoy the many attractions of both the New Forest and Hampshire.

Providing a feeling of seclusion without isolation, with other cottages in the vicinity, Bacons offers a rustic atmosphere which is enhanced by the two open fires in the spacious dining room and smaller sitting room (dry logs for both fires are provided). There is also oil-fired central heating, should you not want to light the fire, making Bacons suitable for holidays or short breaks during both summer and winter months.

Bacons is furnished in a comfortable, homely style, but is certainly not '5-star' accommodation. However, it has been a very popular holiday home for many years primarily due to its idyllic location where ponies can be seen wandering around and its direct access out onto the forest walks. Previous guests that have stayed, may also be interested to know that during 2011-2012, Bacons underwent considerable 'smartening up' of the decor with all mattresses being replaced.

Situated within the cattle grid area of the New Forest, wonderful forest walks can be enjoyed from the front door and there is a local pub and general store within walking distance. The area has much to offer outdoor enthusiasts including horse riding, fishing, cycling the forest tracks and little lanes and enjoying the wildlife.

For those who want to explore the wider area and its places of interest, the Cathedral City of Salisbury, Stonehenge, Beaulieu Motor Museum, the beaches of Bournemouth, Lymington and even the Isle of Wight are within driving distance. There are also plenty of historic houses and gardens to visit.
