Stretton Lakes is located in the county of Rutland and set within one hundred and twenty acres of farmland. It is home to six luxurious holiday lodges which are perfectly positioned around six fishing lakes in an idyllic setting surrounded by open farmland and woodland.
The lakes provide a tranquil setting with a huge range of flora and fauna, where you can watch carp swimming, mallard ducks flying into roost at dusk and if you're lucky, you may also see deer grazing around the lodges.
These luxury log cabins are positioned on the southerly edge of Stretton Wood; one hundred acres of ancient woodland which is teeming with birds and fallow deer. This is the perfect setting for enjoying a walk through the woods or simply relaxing in one of the holiday lodges, each with its own private heated hot tub overlooking the lakes - a simply perfect way to unwind with a glass of wine after an exciting day exploring the area or a day's fishing.
Rutland is England's smallest county which has one of the largest man-made reservoirs in Europe. Set in 3,100 acres of countryside, the reservoir offers something for everyone in a peaceful yet exciting environment. It has a twenty five mile circular track which is ideal for walking or cycling and you can hire bikes or bring your own. Rutland Water has an international reputation for trout fishing, sailing and bird watching and all of these activities are available for day visitors to enjoy.
The site includes the Anglian Water Bird Watching Centre with its internationally famous nature reserve with twenty bird hides and fascinating exhibition. This is where the first breeding ospreys in England occurred and is home of the British Bird Watching Fair every August. Rutland Water is ideal for those who enjoy water sports with dinghies, windsurfers, kayaks, canoes, rowing boats and even power boats available for hire. For the less energetic, Rutland water boasts an excellent nature and woodland reserve, butterfly and aquatic centre and as mentioned, it is great for bird watching. You can also simply find a bench and relax whilst watching the activities on the water!
