The Coach House (5 Star) next to Wolf House in Silverdale is designated within an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) and has stunning views and sunsets across Morecambe Bay to the Lake District and beyond.
About the owners
The Dowbiggin family renovated The Coach House and neighbouring farm buildings forty years ago and the family remain as the current owners. Denise or her daughter Nicky are there to welcome visitors to The Coach House and are happy to provide a wealth of local area information if needed.
Local area and places of interest
The Coach House is an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts and for those wishing to unwind in beautiful surroundings with lovely views of the bay and surrounding fields and woodland. From the doorstep, walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers can explore the Silverdale Arnside Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with its rich mix of coast line, woodland, wetland, farmland, limestone crags and pavements. This landscape encourages a diversity of wildlife which is unique. Leighton Moss RSPB Nature Reserve and Silverdale Golf course are located two miles from The Coach House.
Silverdale village is a ten minute walk and offers a choice of three pubs, an indian restaurant, a butcher, post office, doctors, chemist, co-op, newsagents and a fish van on Wednesdays. We support the view that most food shopping needs can be met locally.
The village is conveniently located thirteen miles north of the historic city of Lancaster. There are many attractions for visitors to the city. These include: The Castle with parts dating from the 12th century; The Priory; The Dukes Theatre; Williamson’s Park; The Maritime Museum and The Judges Lodgings. There is a thriving food market in the centre on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Just south of Lancaster, a walk or drive through The Forest of Bowland AONB is highly recommended. The stone villages of Wray, Melling, Hornby and up to the picturesque market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh and beyond are wonderful, unchanged communities full of character and surrounded by rich farmland. Kendal is twelve miles north of Silverdale and marks the gateway to The Lake District. On route to Kendal, there is Sizergh Castle an interesting National Trust property and Levens Hall in Milnthorpe, a beautifully maintained historic dwelling which remains privately owned and occupied. A sunset walk along the promenade in both Morecambe and Arnside with the Lakeland hills as a back drop is an absolute must. Just a taste of the many memorable things there are to see and do in the Silverdale area.
To enjoy this unique corner of unspoilt Lancashire, The Coach House is available for weekly breaks and short breaks through-out the year.

The Coach House affords stunning views over Morecambe Bay and beyond to the Lake District. It sleeps two to six guests comfortably and offers holiday accommodation with lovely traditional features enhanced by unique art work. Just take a look at the stunning sunsets you can enjoy!

Open plan kitchen with beautiful granite work surfaces, dining area and lounge with an extra seating area giving unrestricted views across Morecambe Bay. Oak wood floors throughout and television, video, DVD and stereo provided for guests enjoyment.
Spiral staircase leading to upstairs lounge with open fire (logs provided) and plenty of books!
Upstairs bathroom with shower, toilet and sink.
Sliding French doors leading out from the upstairs lounge to The Coach House balcony which has an outdoor oak table, chairs and barbeque.

Five bedrooms that are all tastefully decorated and furnished with cupboard and hanging space. There is one bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite shower room which includes shower, toilet and sink, one double bedroom, one bedroom with bunk beds (3ft beds), one single bedroom and a loft room with double sofa bed.
Outside: There is ample outdoor furniture in the secluded courtyard or upstairs terrace. Ample parking space is available.
