The Steading sits in a prominent position on the edge of a working farm in the peaceful little village of Great Strickland, Cumbria, offering the opportunity of escaping the pressures of every day life.
This beautiful 18th Century barn has been brought back to life and tastefully restored and refurbished using lovely local Cumbrian materials. It provides the perfect mix of charming original character and modern day amenities to create a comfortable and luxurious holiday home which has been awarded 4 stars by Visit Britain.
The barn and setting provide the perfect place to come and unwind in a rural retreat and explore the beautiful surrounding area.
Great Strickland is surrounded by outstanding scenery and a great selection of attractions and interesting places to visit. It is also an ideal base for exploring the nearby Lake District, with Ullswater (the second largest lake in the Lake District) being less than ten miles away, and the beautiful unspoilt Eden Valley being on your doorstep.
The Pennines are within easy reach and the Scottish Borders and Yorkshire Dales are a leisurely drive. Whilst being in peaceful rural loation, The Steading is conveniently located just a short drive from Junction 39/40 of the M6 motorway, making it easily accessible.
The Strickland Arms village pub is a short walk away from The Steading and serves local ale and offers an extensive menu. The village also has an enclosed playground, the village hall which holds regular events, St Barnabas Church and a recycling station. The nearest Post Office/village store is in Askam (2.5 miles) and the historic market town of Penrith is just six miles away by car and offers a range of amenities including supermarkets, restaurants, banks, petrol stations, etc.

Accommodation comprises:
Large lounge with polished oak floor and a lovely feature oak fireplace and log burning stove - ideal for curling up in front of on those chilly winter evenings. This room has exposed beams and a paneled wall plus shutters at the windows, overlooking the pretty cottage garden. There is also a television with Freeview, radio/CD player and DVD player.
Spacious dining kitchen which also has an oak paneled wall and beautiful beams. It is fully fitted with fan assisted oven, fridge, halogen hob and dishwasher.
Utility area with microwave and washing machine.
Downstairs cloakroom/WC.

Family bathroom with modern oak paneled bathroom, full-sized bath, separate shower cubicle, WC & washbasin.
Master bedroom with an oak paneled feature wall, beamed ceilings and skylight. This room has a sumptuous king size sleigh bed and has been simply yet tastefully furnished.
The second bedroom offers a double bed and has again been beautifully furnished.
Outside: To the rear of the barn is a private, enclosed rear garden for your enjoyment and relaxation. Guests are welcome to help themselves to the fruit from the fruit trees and bushes; and herbs from the well stocked herb garden. The garden is south facing and catches the sun all day. It is equipped with two seating areas with garden furniture and a barbecue - Perfect for dining al fresco! You will also be able to sit and watch the array of birdlife, including the swallows returning to nest. There is a large garage where a vehicle plus bicycles can be stored and ample off road parking for two vehicles.
Additional information: The barn has oil fired central heating and a useful airing cupboard with plenty of space for drying clothes and also storage space. A tumble dryer is provided in the garage. Short breaks are offered between November to March and at short notice at other times of the year if available.
