Stair Mill is set in a delightful position and is home to two charming holiday cottages. Available all year round, the cottages are perfectly located within the Newlands Valley and provide a great base from which to explore the area.
In the heart of the Lake District National Park, overlooking Catbells, Causey Pike and Skiddaw, Stair Mill is in a truly rural location, yet only four miles from the bustling market town of Keswick with its wide range of amenities and attractions.
A former corn mill, Stair Mill sits in two acres of garden and woodland and is ideal for those who enjoy walking with plenty of great walks across the fells from the doorstep. Alternatively, the area can be explored by cycle or by car with Borrowdale, Derwentwater, Braithwaite and Buttermere all close at hand (secure, lockable bike storage is available and there is ample parking next to the cottages).
Both Mill Cottage and The Parrock have been converted from the original lakeland mill to provide comfortable, cosy and characterful holiday accommodation. Both cottages sleep up to six guests in three bedrooms and provide a welcoming retreat to return home to after an enjoyable day exploring the area.
There are plenty of things to see and do within the area. Nearby Keswick offers a wide range of attractions for visitors including interesting shops, restaurants and museums. From here you can take a boat trip around Lake Derwentwater, visit the Pencil Museum or the Cars to the Stars Museum, hire a bike or visit the Whinatter Forest Visitors Centre where you may see the Osprey. At Nicholl End Marina in Portinscale, canoes and boats can be hired, providing a great family day of fun.
A little further afield is the coast (including St Bees with its nice beach); stately homes including Mirehouse and Hutton; Cockermouth (twenty five minutes away by car) with its many attractions including Wordsworth House, Toy Museum and Jennings Brewery and Muncaster Castle which provides a great day out for the whole family (an hour away).
Whether you are looking for a walking holiday, a base from which to explore the areas many attractions or to simply relax, Stair Mill provides a perfect location.
