The Cottage is located within the grounds of Graysondale in the lovely small peaceful hamlet of Deanscales, which is situated approximately three miles from the historic market town of Cockermouth. Formerly the Meal House which held the animals winter feed, today The Cottage provides 4 Star (Gold) holiday accommodation for up to four guests.
Deanscales sits on the edge of the Lake District National Park and is perfectly placed for exploring both the Northern and Western Fells. It has a local pub, the Postings House, which is well known for its number of tea-pots and serves good food and ale! There is also a local man in the village, who you can hire to help you explore the local area or any part of the Lakes on a guided walk.
The Western Lakes sits between the sea and the mountains and is a truly beautiful unspoilt part of Cumbria. It has much to offer and is set in a quieter and probably less travelled part of the district. There are many coastal villages and towns to explore including Whitehaven, Seascale, St Bees, Ravenglass, Silloth and Maryport to name just a few. It is also a great area for those who enjoy walking and cycling with plenty of paths and tracks to explore amongst lovely scenery. Whitehaven and St Bees are also the starting points for both the popular Coast to Coast Walk and the Sea to Sea (C2C) Cycle Route.
Inland you have the ancient market town of Cockermouth with its great mix of specialist shops and places to eat. There are four main valleys in the area to explore which are Wasdale, Ennerdale, Dunnerdale and Eskdale. If that is not enough, the area also has the deepest lake ‘Wastwater’ and the highest mountain ‘Scafell Pike’.
The Western Lakes are full of history from Roman remains, to industrial history, including mining for coal and iron ore, shipbuilding, chemical manufacturing and steel making.

The Cottage is very well presented and equipped and offers cosy and warm holiday accommodation. It is full of designer items such as Denby Stoneware, Dorma/Walters & Noble bedding, Judge kitchenware, luxury Egyptian cotton towels and dressing gowns - basically everything needed for a relaxing and memorable holiday.

Open plan lounge, dining room and kitchen. The dining area has a wooden table and four chairs and the kitchen provides washing machine, microwave, fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob. The lounge is immediately off the dining area with comfortable seating, television and DVD player (which also plays CD's).

One bedroom with bunk beds.
Shower room with corner shower cubicle, WC and wash basin.
Outside: The Cottage has its own patio area and is surrounded by approximately three acres of woodland and gardens. Within the grounds is an Arctic Cabin, with an indoor BBQ. Younger guests may enjoy playing in the owner's secret playhouse in the woods or on the oversized climbing frame, slide and swings. There are also nearly two acres of woods with paths that guests are welcome to wander and discover the Derwent Bears wooden sculptures.

March2012 (Apartment)
The WOW factor we experienced on walking into the apartment for the first time stayed with us throughout our short break. Every little detail had been thought through in order to make us feel welcome and valued. The weather was almost mediterranean & I am going home with a healthy glow - Just a walk round the harbour gives you a good idea of how important this town was & we never tired of sitting watching the fishing boats and proud owners tinkering & polishing their craft. We will certainly be back - many thanks for your hospitality.

We've had a wonderful week walking the Cumbrian coast especially around St Bees & back to Whitehaven. The Apartment is superb and with the best weather ever, we felt like we were in Spain not the North of England. We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the world go by. Thanks again for the most amazing place to stay.

July 2011 Cottage
On a gloriously sunny day we gathered together to hold our Village Picnic and as the cottage was free for the weekend, were able to use the kitchen to prepare the feast.
It was a lovely day and everyone commented on how wonderful the cottage was and most of us wanted to move in immediately!

Great Holiday.The Cottage is ideal, warm & comfortable, old on the outside and modern inside.
Our hosts were very helpful & friendly and the grandchildren had the run of the garden, which was a godsend (lost them for hours).

We stayed at the Marina Apartment for a long weekend at the start of April 2011. Stunning apartment with everything you could possibly need,comfortable and relaxing. Location is excellent, right on the marina front,lovely to watch the boats coming and going throughout the day,as the sun set. The guides within the apartment were really useful, provided us with lots of interesting things to go and see/visit. Pity it was only a weekend,as there is so much to see and do. We will be back. We found everything we could possibly need. Our bed was so comfy. The cottage was comfortable & cosy, views astounding in the area.
