This charming 18th century holiday cottage is in the heart of the pretty coastal village of Bardsea, which boasts two fine pubs (great food and ale), a local beach, one of the most picturesque golf courses in Cumbria, and is on the southern edge of the beautiful Lake District National Park.
The cottage is the ideal base for walking, biking or climbing in the southern lakes, with Coniston Water just ten miles away and gentler walks along ancient bridleways around Birkrigg Common can be enjoyed from the front door. The Cumbrian Coastal Path passes within 500 yards, along the shore of Morecambe Bay, with its outstanding opportunities for birdwatching.
The Cumbrian Way begins in the nearby market town of Ulverston, just three miles away and continues through the heart of the Lakes to Keswick.
Ulverston has all the amenities of a thriving market town including an award winning regional supermarket, pubs, independent shops, a wide selection of cafes and restaurants, leisure centre, banks, post office and railway station.
Bardsea is an excellent location for enjoying the best of the South Lakes. From the local beach and walks to the more challenging terrain of the Coniston Fells and biking in Grizedale Forest, there is something for everyone.
There are numerous visitor attractions in the area, from historic houses such as Conishead Priory, Ruskin’s Brantwood, Holker Hall and the Elizabethan Levens Hall and Gardens; to National Trust attractions like Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top and Yew Tree farms, Sizergh Castle and the Steam Yacht Gondola on Coniston Water - all within half an hour.
The South Lakes Wild Animal Park is less than five miles away and the Aquarium of the Lakes at Newby Bridge is within twenty minutes, just beyond the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway.
