Situated within the Southern edge of the Lake District National Park, Rose Cottage is set in its own grounds of half an acre of woodland. This location makes Rose Cottage the perfect base for exploring the many of places of interest of the South Lakes, whether by foot, cycle, car or train. Located two miles east of Grange over Sands and just fifteen minutes from the M6, it is also an ideal base for exploring the whole of the Lake District.
The cottage has all the facilities you need and sleeps two adults and up to two children - therefore ideal for couples and families with young children. (Sorry - no pets or smokers).
Situated in a very peaceful location and of immense external character, with limestone walls and an attractive slate roof, the 100 year old cottage has been tastefully modernised internally and combines all that is needed for perfectly relaxed holiday living. The cottage boasts a pleasant and secluded al fresco eating area with an all weather barbecue. For those who prefer to truly relax and eat out, close by there is a pub serving food (sixty yards - hidden away though the woods!).
Locally woodland and coastal walks can be enjoyed along with the Cumbria Cycle Way, the nearby Netherwood Hotel with its indoor spa pool and Jacuzzi, an ice-cream farm and the facilities of the Victorian resort of Grange over Sands, which include many specialist shops, promenade and train station. The nearby National Trust woodlands are perfect for a stroll and a short drive away, the woodlands of Witherslack provide for a longer walk - or even a whole day out. In addition, there are several walks down to the coast line.
Wake up early and there is a good chance you will see one or more of the deer that pass through the grounds. Barn owls, woodpeckers, jays, nut hatches are among the numerous types of birds that are frequent visitors - especially if you leave out some food on the bird table (watch the squirrels don't eat it first though!).
Rose Cottage is situated on the Cumbrian Way. As well as having easy access to the South Lakes - you will also be a short drive away from the many places of interest in West Yorkshire. Kirkby Lonsdale and Ingleton are within easy reach, and Ingleborough offers an easy hill walk with spectacular views across the Cumbrian ranges and Morecambe Bay.
Lake Windermere is probably the main attraction for many visitors to Cumbria. Visit the Aquarium of the Lakes and the park at Fell Foot (six miles away) and even take a dip in the shallow waters at the Southern tip of the Lake. Regular boat trips are available that will take you its entire length.
