This delightful self-catering holiday cottage sleeps up to four guests and is located in a lovely peaceful position just a one mile walk from the vibrant market town of Keswick. It is conveniently close to Derwentwater and the perfect base for exploring the many attractions of Cumbria's stunning Lake District National Park.
Osprey Cottage has recently been renovated and now offers cosy comfortable holiday accommodation which is furnished to a high standard of comfort and style, whilst retaining much of its original character and charm. It also benefits from ample private parking, has secure bike storage and has a patio garden which is ideal for enjoying a glass of wine after an exciting day exploring the area. Located in Portinscale, the cottage an ideal 'starting point' position for some lovely local walks. These vary from a major hiking trip to the summits of Skiddaw and Blencathra to a gentle stroll to the Derwentwater Marinas.
Keswick-on-Derwentwater is an picturesque market town located at the very heart of the Northern Lakes. It makes an ideal base for exploring the stunning scenery of the Lake District National Park or beyond to Hadrian's wall or the Solway coast. What ever time of the year you visit, the peace and tranquility of this beautiful area can be enjoyed.
Whilst small in size, Keswick offers a wide range of both outdoor and indoor attractions, the majority being within a twenty minute walk of Osprey Cottage. These include: the Cumberland Pencil Museum; Keswick Victorian Museum and Art Gallery; 'Cars of the Stars' housing authentic James Bond cars among others; The Teapottery; Fitz Park; Hope Park; Friars Crag; The 'state of the art' Theatre by the Lake; Indoor Leisure Pool; the stylish 1920's Alhambra Cinema; Indoor Climbing Centre and Derwentwater Launches. This area is currently the only place in England where you can see both the Osprey and the native red squirrel in their natural wild habitat.

Comfortable beamed lounge/dining area with a lovely wood burning stove as a focal point - ideal for curling up in front of after a day exploring the beautiful fells. There is also a 'Freeview' TV, DVD player, radio/cassette/CD player and books.
Dining area with pine furniture and a cupboard containing a selection of games, DVDs, etc.
Separate fitted kitchen which is fully equipped with electric fan oven with gas hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave and fridge.
Secure porch in which to hang coats, leave boots etc.
Ground floor shower Room with WC, washbasin and thermostatically controlled power shower.
First floor main bedroom with pine furnishing, a king-size bed, beamed ceiling and an en-suite Shower Room with thermostatically controlled shower, WC and washbasin.
First floor second bedroom with pine bunk beds (3ft wide) and pine furniture.
Additional information: At the front of the house is a patio garden with table and chairs. A shed is available for secure storage of bicycles and there is also off road private parking for two cars. Linen is provided (please note that towels are not provided). Unfortunately pets can not be accepted and Osprey Cottage has a no-smoking policy. The holiday cottage is normally let on a weekly basis, however, some off-peak short winter breaks may be available so please enquire with the owner.
