Harriet’s Hideaway is a delightful self catering holiday cottage which was formerly a water driven sawmill dating back to the 1700’s and then converted into six cottages. It is perfectly positioned on the outskirts of the tranquil hamlet of Thornthwaite at the bottom of the beautiful “Seldom Seen” ravine.
Thornthwaite is close to the vibrant town of Keswick (approximately three miles) in the Lake District and has a lovely tea-room, art and craft gallery and a Lakeland pub nearby.
The holiday cottage enjoys magnificent views of the Skiddaw mountain range at the rear of the property, whilst just a stones throw from the front door, a sparkling waterfall can be seen tumbling down from the vast Whinlatter Forest above, into the Comb Beck.
This truly is an idyllic location and perfect for those who enjoy walking, cycling and wildlife. The adjacent village of Braithwaite with its character Pubs, Shops and Restaurants and Lake Bassenthwaite are within walking distance and the pretty market town of Keswick offers many attractions and both indoor and outdoor activities. Here you can take a boat trip around lake Derwentwater.
