Hallflat Farm House provides spacious holiday accommodation for up to eight guests in four en-suite bedrooms. With wonderful views over Wasdale, two woodburning stoves and oil fired central heating the Farmhouse ensures a cosy welcome. The original farmhouse for Hallflat Farm, the house is one of five holiday cottages converted from a range of farm buildings dating back to the 18th century. Located in spectacular Wasdale within the Lake District National Park, the cottages provide an ideal base from which to explore the remote and uncommercialised western fells and lakes.
Positioned on a former working farm, the cottages sit in eight acres of woodland and meadows which are bordered by the River Irt with rocky pools and cascades.
An easy walk from the cottages gives access to the open fell which leads to the Wastwater Screes and beyond to the Scafell range. The area also offers plenty of low level walks through open countryside and woodland, alongside lakes and rivers - with delightful country pubs along the way (the closest pub is The Bridge Inn, just three hundred and fifty yards from the cottages which serves food and welcomes children and dogs).
The area offers plenty of other outdoor activities to enjoy including: fishing, horse riding, golf, sailing, mountain biking and swimming - all available in the vicinity. The area’s other attractions include the ancient Roman fort on Hardknot Pass; Muncaster Castle and owl centre; the minature steam railway which runs up the lovely valley of Eskdale and Wordsworth’s birth place in Cockermouth. The more well known centres of Windermere, Keswick and Ambleside are also within reach, but far enough away for the western lakes to retain their own unspoilt and individual character.

"Myself, my wife and my children and grandchildren had a weekend staying in the farmhouse. As there were eight of us, the four en-suite bedrooms and large kitchen, dining room and lounge were ideal, and particularly well furnished and equipped.
"Ian and Madeleine made us most welcome and were very helpful and provided a cot for our 13 month old grandson at no extra charge.
"The garden area is the perfect spot to sit and relax or have a barbecue, which Madeleine told us was available, again free of charge.
Unfortunately the weather and our short stay precluded this, but we definitely hope to return and take advantage of the offer.
